End of Part One: Goodbye

Ada turned to look at Eleanor. The sun had gone down, she was hard to make out. Her face was hidden.

"What now?" asked Ada.

"It's okay," there seemed to be a certain sadness in Eleanor's voice. "You can go home, I'll deal with the body."

"Ok." Ada walked towards the giant metal doors, as she passed by, Eleanor grabbed her hand.

"Ada."

"What is it?"

"Thank you. This is something I should have done a long time ago."

"What's that?"

"Putting him out of his misery."

"Huh? But last year you were gonna-"

"A façade. For his sake," she sighed "he should have died a long time ago. But I couldn't be the one to do it. Not to him."

"What?"

"Don't worry."

Eleanor let go of Ada's hand. Ada walked a few more paces,

"He thought he was a human." said Ada,

"And what did you think?"

"...It doesn't matter anymore." Ada said bluntly, "But I have a feeling something very sad happened here."

She walked off.

Once Ada had left the factory. Eleanor walked up to Malphas' corpse. She walked into the light, no more hiding in the cloak of darkness anymore. She could feel tears fall down her face for the first time in years. She knelt down, closed her eyes and put her hands together in a traditional respectful pose. A prayer for the death of a...

"I'm sorry for being such a coward. I'll let go of you from now on." she sniffed "And I'll always remember you as who you used to be. Thank you for giving me purpose."
