The car ride to his place was silent but Tristan was content. He had found his mate and he was taking her to his place where he would explain everything to her. He breathed in her scent again and relaxed into his seat. She was pretty calm despite the fact that she had gotten into the car with a stranger. But he knew she had survival instincts from the way she was hesitant to go with him. That pleased him more than he thought it would considering it was him she debating to leave behind.
“Will we be there soon?” Alissa’s voice cut through the silence and he glanced over at her, again, to see her finally looking at him. She had stared out her side window almost the whole time, lost in her own thoughts. The ride to his home was a bit long, but they were almost there.
“Yeah,” he nodded his head and smiled slightly before looking out the windshield again.
“Alright,” she whispered and shifted around in her seat so that she was facing him more. He could feel her eyes on him, but it didn’t bug him. If he could be staring at her, he would be.
“I don’t get it.” Alissa said after a few minutes, confusion coloring her voice.
“Get what?” He asked, glancing at her. She was frowning and had her fingers woven together. He didn’t like that. He reached his right hand over to cover hers and un-thread them. He took her hand in his as he focused back on the road.
“This.” Alissa said, squeezing his hand. “Why are you with me? I mean, half of those girls back in the bowling alley are beautiful and have more experience… there.”
Tristan could feel the growl in his chest but he didn’t let it out. He didn’t like this insecurity, but once he explained everything, he hoped she would lose some of it.
“I don’t want any of those girls, Alissa. I just want you.” He shook his head.
“But why?” Alissa insisted.
“You don’t feel the connection between us? You aren’t dying to be in my arms as much as I want you to be in them?” Tristan listed off and he heard Alissa gulp.
“I feel it,” she said after a minute. “But… I don’t get it.”
“I’ll explain everything once we get to my house.” He assured her, squeezing her hand and glanced at her again to see her looking like she wanted to protest but she didn’t say a word.

Alissa hadn’t wanted to admit he was right. She didn’t know him, he didn’t know her. But there was something there… She had a strong attraction for him, and he for her. It was hard to wrap her mind around, and she wanted answers but something was telling her to wait. Wait until he wasn’t driving and they could be in his house where it was warm.
She glanced down at his hand around hers and smiled a bit. It made her unexplainably happy to have skin to skin contact with him, but he was right… she was trying to not lean over onto his arm and rest her head on his shoulder. Though, she didn’t think he would mind.
He made a sharp turn that had her turning her attention to her window and she frowned when she realized he had turned down some side road that was in the woods. Where did he live? In a tree house? But she didn’t say anything, just kept watching, though her grip on his hand was tighter. Then, finally, she was driveways leading to houses that were pretty spaced apart but why were they all out in the middle of the woods? There were a lot of houses out there for being in the woods, which surprised her. Was he part of some weird community?
“I know you’re confused,” Tristan quietly said as he continued down the road and she looked at him to see an almost excited look on his face. “But I promise I’ll explain everything.”
