First period was hectic as Mrs. Brown, our French teacher couldn't stop babbling about her boyfriend. Now I'm in second period and a lot less happy. History is probably my least favorite class, lately we have been learning about Kulaaniwa origins. Mr. Kelly finally comes in and begins teaching.
"Alright class, settle down and sit down," he says, just like everyday. "Now, let's briefly review before we begin, can anyone tell me what an Kulaaniwa is?" I raise my hand with the rest of the class, he of course picks the girl right next to me way too involved in her book to care. "Mae?" He says, she stirs from her reading quickly.
"Yes sir?" she stutters.
"Can you tell us what a Kulaaniwa is?" At the sound of that she sits up and says,
"A Kulaaniwa, a human who has been recruited by a group of other Kulaaniwa and trained in the ways of magic and combat"
"Good, and what is the purpose of this training?"
"Oh! um the uh purpose is to test if they truly are a Kulaaniwa, and if not they are usually killed." Mae as most people call her, is kind of an outcast. Most people think she may be an Kulaaniwa herself, just because of how intelligent she is, but that would be real bad news for her. Janalette, Mae's aunt is the head of Kulaaniwa Department of Execution, or the KDE. We Sword Holders are the only ones brave enough to fight them, not like those cowardly Glass Wielders, or the goody-two-shoes Hunters. Oh did I forget to mention? I am an Kulaaniwa, a human most people believes has been cursed or demonized and needs to be executed. I hate humans, they are disgusting, and annoying. They think in an illogical manner, and rely on each other for everything, basically they're idiots.
"Twyla!" Mr. Kelly shouts, ripping me from my thoughts.
"Yes sir?" I say in the most confident way I can.
"Are you feeling okay?" he says, " I said your name four times, and you look like you're about pass out."
"I'm fine," I say gritting my teeth. Always worrying, never thinking, dumb humans. "I just didn't get much sleep, okay!"
"Ms. Vance," he replies sternly, "I would appreciate it, if you didn't snap at me, I doubt you want to be in trouble."
"Idiot" I think to myself, but I don't say it, instead I say "Yes sir, " just like always. Mr. Kelly goes back to teaching not bothering to ask anymore questions. The bell finally rings and I head to my next class.
