3Gun got back to town and met with AJ and her friend Gyn, the girl from Tent City. He learned all about Tex Mex and the kidnapped girls and felt a deep regret for the situation. He wondered if he was getting too old for the sheriff business. He found out Kae was back and fit for duty but that only made three, counting himself. He knew AJ would be right there but he wasn't going to start employing all the citizenry.

The smart thing, they decided, was to get the girls out first then deal with Tex Mex. 3Gun was looking to do that personally. Billy arrived back and had to be calmed down about Rue taking off again then brought up to date. He said he would help but he had concerns about Thingamajig, Rue's brother (another brother).
Raven had disappeared but 3Gun didn't think he was too far away; Tiger was still at the saloon. Gyn, Rue and AJ arrived back in town and gave their report, how they broke into the house, found the room where the girls were and the fact that thirteen men were in the house.

Then the fun began. Everybody had their idea of what to do and arguments flew back and forth about who should do what and when. 3Gun didn't want the town's citizenry getting involved from a safety standpoint. He had Deputy Darkly, Kae and he deputized Billy, as well he was willing to accept AJ and Rue, since they already involved themselves and had an idea of the layout of the house the girls were in.

He did not want Loren or CG getting mixed up in a potential gunfight. Instead he asked that they get lodgings arranged for the girls at the hotel and whatever else they may need like Doc U.B. Well. Gyn was going to be needed to help deal with the families of the imprisoned girls, to advise them about acting as normal as possible and not give the bandits any trouble while the rescue was going on.

In the middle of all this the latest newsprint came out with a concise report on the church fire, a witty comic section and an article of musical analogy involving dance disambiguation. 3Gun's life was becoming a daily topic. Nothing was spared. 3Gun contacted Tiddly and made another arrangement for him to smuggle the team into Tent City. Unger was pressed into service with his hearse to smuggle the girls out once they were rescued.

More fussing and arguing and another batch of muffins prepared to help sooth jagged nerves. 3Gun gave CG her hanky back and was reprimanded again.
