I glanced down, my heart racing as I stared into her kaleidoscope eyes. Due to our close proximity, we were quite literally breathing the same air. "You know I can't do that, Elle." I felt my heart constrict as I watched her facial features drop from hopeful to depressed. Her eyebrows dropped, her eyes glazing over with un-shed tears. "Jake... w-we can just run away. None of this.. none of this has to be real." She lent her body forwards, her head knocking into my shoulder, her hot breath seeping through my flannel. I felt my stomach knot, my lungs constricting as I realised she was crying. "I... can't, Elle. We can't, you know that." I heard her sniffle, a damp feeling hitting my skin. She raised her head, those kaleidoscope eyes glistening with quickly falling tears, her face flushed red and her breath stuttering. "We-we can try, please Jake." I shook my head, putting my hands onto her shoulders. I took a deep breath, my heart breaking as I gently pushed her away. Her bright eyes glossed, flashing with hurt and brimming with self-loathing. Eyes are the key to the soul, they say. Her head began to shake as she began to mumble 'no, no, no, please' like a mantra. Her tears fell harder as I began to back away, giving a bitter smile. "I'll see you around" my voice wavered, threatening to crack if I spoke anymore. This is for the best. I repeated the words to myself as I turned away from her shaking figure.

Eh, beginning is ok but the ending sucks. This just kind of wrote itself and I just let it do its own thing so. Here's the unchanged version of this where Jake breaks Elle's heart. Dunno who they are but Jake low-key seems like a dick. Like damn why're you leaving a magical crying girl
