I got home and took off the clothes I got from Alec and Jace. I put on a black shirt with a flannel shirt over it and tan jeans. I wore the boots I had borrowed from Alec.

I took out my phone and remembered what had happened at the bookstore. I called Jonathan.

"Hey, Jonathan?" I said. "It's Mason from the bookstore."

"Oh hey," he said. "I've been waiting for you to call or text and I just realized I sound desperate."

I laughed. "Well how about you meet me for coffee at Java Jones?" I said.

    "Sure, what time?"

    "Does 5:00 sound good?"

"Sure thing," he said. "See you there."

    "Okay see you later bye."

I hung up the phone and put it in my pocket. I placed my wallet in my pocket and folded the clothes I had borrowed.

I arrived at the Institute. I saw Max walking around.

"Mason!" He yelled. "I was looking for you but Alec said you left."

"I did leave," I said. "I had to go home at some point."

"Aww, I like having you around," he said.

"Don't worry I'll come by every day to see you," I said.

    "Really?" He asked.

"Really," I said. "Now if you'll excuse me I have to drop these clothes off to Alec and Jace and then leave but I'll come by tomorrow."

    "Okay," he said, "bye Mason."

"Bye Max," I said waving at him.

I knocked on Alec's door. "Oh hey," he said.

"Hey," I said. "I just came to drop off these clothes."

"Okay," he said taking the clothes. "And Mason maybe we should talk."

"I can't," I said. "I'm meeting someone for coffee at 5 and I don't want to be late."

    "Oh okay," he said.

"Oh and can I borrow these boots," I asked pointing to the boots I was wearing. "They're just so comfortable. I'll bring them back tomorrow."

"No it's fine," he said. "Keep them. They don't fit me anymore and they looked about your size."

"Thank you," I said pulling him into an awkward hug. "I should go." I said releasing him from the hug.

"Stay safe," he said, "and take a few seraph blades."

I nodded and took two seraph blades. I shoved them in my boots. I pulled my phone to check the time. 4:30. I left the Institute and went to Java Jones.

I arrived at Java Jones to see Jonathan sitting at the table with two cups of coffee. He waved at me and I walked over to where he was.

    "Hey," I said.

"Hey," he said. "Take a seat I bought you a coffee."

"Thanks," I said sitting down across from him. I sat and talked with him until we finished our coffee.

"Want to get out of here?" He asked.

    "Sure," I said. "Why not?"

We arrived at the park. Trees surrounded the park. There was a small pond in the middle of the park and benches almost everywhere.

There weren't many people at the park. There was only one person jogging as the sun was setting.

Jonathan grabbed my hands in his interlocking our fingers. I smiled and felt myself turn a hot red. He smiled at me and looked over to a bench. "Let's sit there," he said.

We sat down and I looked at him. He had whitish hair slicked back. His eyes were black and his skin looked smooth. He was really good looking.

I guess he noticed me staring at him because then he asked me "Why are you looking at me like that?"

I blushed. "Uh I was just looking at your hair. You never see someone with hair like that."

"That's true," he said, "and I'm one of a kind."

I laughed. I looked at him in the eyes and he looked at me. The next thing I knew was that he pressed his lips against mine. I kissed back. His lips were soft and warm against mine. His kiss was sweet and gentle. I grabbed onto his shirt and pulled him closer. I sniffed in his scent. He smelled like flowers and fruit and rain all mixed together.

I heard a noise and quickly pulled away. "What was that?" I asked.

"I don't know," he said. "Probably the wind or some animals."

I turned around to see a demon like the one I had seen the day Clary, Simon, and I had been to Pandemonium and Clary and I had seen Alec, Jace, and Izzy.

My eyes widened. "Run," I told him. I pulled out one seraph blade. "Gabriel!" I yelled.

"Cassiel!" I heard Jonathan yell. I turned to see him with a seraph blade in his hand. I didn't have time to be surprised.

I jumped over the bench. I ran to the demon but Jonathan was already there. He moved fast. Probably as fast as Jace had moved when I had fought Sebastian.

I leaped into battle. I charged at it but it's tentacle smacked me across the face, making me turn in a circle, lose my balance, and fall to the floor.

Jonathan was trying to fight it off. I saw a tentacle grab his arm and heard him yell. I jumped to my feet and flung myself on the demon. A tentacle wrapped around my arm and I screamed in pain. I jammed my seraph blade into it's back. It screeched and let go of my hand.

Me and Jonathan fell to the floor. "Call someone that's a Shadowhunter," he said. "Demons have poison. Hurry!"

I pulled out my phone and dialed Alec's number. He answered after 2 rings. "Hello?"

"Alec just listen, I don't have enough time to explain but there was a demon and this guy was a Shadowhunter and he helped me fight it. The demon hurt us with it's tentacles and according to the Shadowhuter he's poisoned us. We're at the park by Java Jones," I said. "Ask Clary. She'll know where."

I hung up my phone. My eyesight started to get blurry. I leaned against the tree. I saw Jonathan hit the floor.

"Jonathan!" I yelled. I tried to walk towards him and I hit the floor. I lifted my head. "Alec, hurry," I whispered. Then everything went dark.
