I quickly changed into my Shadowhunter gear. I opened the door. "Really?" I asked.

    "Yeah," he said.

"Did you tell the others?" I asked.

"No, I'm about to," he said.

"No don't," I said. "I don't want anyone to get hurt."

    "Well I'm going," he said.

   "Fine," he said.

We both got our weapons. We got our bow and arrows. We also got seraph blades as back up weapons.

We entered the library. Luke stood there with a teenage girl that looked about 16. The girl had brown, curly hair. She wore a black shirt that read "Haters gonna hate" and black jeans.

    "We're ready," Alec said.

    "Let's go then," Luke said.

We got into Luke's pick up truck. We headed to the location where my mom was. Everyone was quiet.

I broke the silence. "So?" I said looking at the girl. "I'm Mason." I smiled at her.

    "Maia," she said.

"I like your style of clothing," I said.

"Thanks," she said smiling at me. "I didn't try."

"You didn't try to look amazing?" I asked. "Wow, that's a surprise."

    "How?" She asked.

"'Cause you still look amazing and you didn't even try," I said.

"You sound like Izzy," Alec said.

"Hey I'm just complimenting her clothes," I said. "I like almost everything."

    "We're here," Luke said.

We hopped out the car and went on the roof of a nearby place.

"There are Forsaken everywhere," Luke said. "We'll have to be careful."

"There's about 6 on the outside but we don't know what could be inside," I said.

"We'd better be ready," Alec said.

    "Ready?" I asked.

    "Ready," they all said.

Alec and I launched our arrows. We all jumped off the roof. I launched an arrow as we fell.

I ran to a Forsaken pulling out my seraph blade. "Irthuiel!" I screeched. The blade lighting up in my hand. I drove it into the Forsaken. Then threw it at another one. I quickly pulled out my bow. To see the others waiting for me.

I had an arrow ready as we entered the building. There were only 3 forsaken. In the middle of the warehouse was my mom. I released my arrow. It flew into a Forsaken's eye.

"This is too easy," Luke said.

"I ignored him and ran to the f
Forsaken stabbing it. I shot at the two remaining. I ran my mom. I untied her.

    "Mom!" I yelled. "You're okay."

My mom didn't answer. She looked surprised. I saw three men standing in the behind us.

"Awww, look," said one of the men. "He came to save his mommy."

    "Fuck you shithead," I said.

"Look he's angry," said the one in the middle.

"Look there are three idiots standing in front of me," I said.

"Listen here you little shit,"said the last one, "you better stop being a smartass or there will be a corpse here."

"Try me assholes," I said. I shot an arrow through one's heart.

I saw another arrow fly from the other side of the room. I shot the last one. Three bodies lay in front of me.

"Mom let's go!" I yelled pulling her by her hand.

We ran outside. "Stop!" We heard a guy yell from the door.

My mom turned. I heard her yell when she hit the floor. I stopped and ran to her. My mom's jeans had ripped when she fell. I saw a dagger fly. I tried to dodge it but it scratched my cheek.

I felt blood drip but didn't care. I flung my arrow quickly. At the same time he threw a dagger.

My arrow hit his eye. His dagger went by me. I turned to see I wasn't his target. My mom stood there with tears in her eyes. A dagger jammed into her stomach.

"Mom!" I yelled with tears in my eyes. I bent down.

"It's okay, sweetheart," she said cupping my face. "I have to tell you something. You're adopted. your parents were killed when you were a baby. You had a big sister who ran with you to the police station. I adopted you, but I couldn't adopt your sister. She was already getting adopted by another family. All I know about her is that she was living in Los Angeles." She smiled. "I love you," she said and closed her eyes.

"No!" I yelled. I felt tears run down my cheeks. I wiped them away and got up. I walked up to the guy. I swung at him, but he grabbed my hand. I kicked him in his groin. He released my hand. I pushed his head down and kneed him where the arrow was. He staggered back and yelled. I quickly pulled out my seraph blade. "Gabriel!" I screeched. I lifted it and cutting his arm. I jumped on him making him hit his back on the floor. I drove the seraph blade into his heart. "Die!" I yelled with tears in my eyes. "Die you scum! You killed my mother!"

I felt an arm grabbed me. I dropped my seraph blade on the ground. I let the person hold me and I cried into their shoulder. I looked up to see blue eyes and black hair. I wiped the tears off.

"Let's go," I said. "I want to go home."

The car ride home was silent. I was the first to get out of the car. I entered the Institute and walked straight to my room. I washed the blood off my hands and took off my gear. I changed into black sweats and a black shirt. I sat on my bed just trying to forget.
