The Last Day

Stefan and Elena were seated on the couch talking to Elijah and Victoria who were standing near the fire place Tonight is the full moon. We should assume that Klaus is prepared to break the curse" Elijah said. "Elena said that the Sun and the Moon curse is fake? That it's actually just a curse placed on Klaus" Stefan asked. "Klaus is a vampire born of a werewolf bloodline so is Victoria. The curse has kept their werewolf aspects from manifesting. But if he breaks it...He'll be a true hybrid which will make Victoria into one too" Elijah said and Victoria nodded. Damon joined them.

"Then why are we letting him break the curse? We can kill him today. With Bonnie" Damon said as he joined them. "Damon..." Stefan said sternly. "No. Bonnie can't use that much power without dying" Elena said. "I'll write her a great eulogy" Damon joked. "It's not an option, Damon" Elena said. "All right, how do we break this curse?" Stefan asked.

"Well, the ritual itself is relatively straightforward. The ingredients, so to speak, you already know" Victoria said. "The moonstone" Stefan said. "A witch will channel the power of the full moon to release the spell that's bound within the stone. After that, Klaus, being both werewolf and vampire, will sacrifice one of each" Elijah continued. "And where do I fit into it?" Elena asked. "The final part of the ritual" Victoria answered before Elijah.Elijah takes a wooden box from the shelf. "Klaus must drink the blood of the doppelgänger...to the point of your death" Elijah said. Damon looked at Elena as Stefan takes Elena's hand. She looked at Elijah. He opened the box and took a jar from it.

"And that's where you two come in" Elena asked looking at both Elijah and Victoria. "This is an elixir that I acquired some 500 years ago for Katerina" Elijah said. "It possesses mystical properties of resuscitation" Victoria added. "So I'll be dead?" Elena asked. "And then you won't" Elijah answered. "That's your plan? A magical witch potion with no expiration date?" Damon said as he looked at Elena.

"You want to come back to life, what about John's ring?" Damon asked. "Those rings only work on humans. The doppelgänger's a supernatural occurrence" Elijah said. "And the odds are, the ring won't even work" Victoria added. "I'll take those odds over your elixir. What if it doesn't work, Elena?" Damon asked. "Then I guess I'll just be dead" Elena answered. Damon looked at Stefan who shrugged. He looked back and Elijah and left the room.

"Do we know if Klaus has everything he needs to do this? Does he have a werewolf?" Elena asked. "Klaus has been waiting to break this curse for over a thousand years. If he doesn't already have a werewolf, my guess is by tonight, he will" Elijah said. "That means my dear Elena you will get to meet our brother Niklaus in the flesh tonight. So be prepared" Victoria said walking away.

"Breakfast of champions, huh?" Stefan asked. "I'm surrounded by idiots. I need all the help I can get" Damon replied. "You know, you're not helping" Stefan said. "Elijah is an original vampire, Stefan. One we tried to kill. You're going to believe this guy?" Damon asked. "What do you want me to do, Damon? Elena made her decision. She's choosing to trust Elijah. I'm going to put my faith in her" Stefan said. "Why? She's going to end up dead" Damon said. "Because she put her faith in me. She chose to trust me in spite of what I am. I'm going to bet on somebody's instincts, it's going to be hers" Stefan said.

"Well, then, that makes you the biggest idiot of them all" Damon said. "She chose to trust you, too" Stefan said. "Then maybe you shouldn't be so sure about her instincts" Damon admitted. Victoria walked in. "I'm not sure about that. You two are scared that Elena put her trust in my brother. Let me make it easy for you two. Elena trusts my brother and my brother and I trust each other. So if it is so hard for you two to put your trust in my brother then put your trust in me" Victoria said. Damon and Stefan looked at each other. "I will trust you no matter what" Stefan said with a smile. Victoria smiled back and looked at Damon. He just looked at her and Stefan as he took a drink from his glass. He threw the rest away before leaving without a word.
