Lacey’s P.O.V:
School flew by quickly to my despair. All I had on my mind all day was what Harry had forced me into doing yesterday. I knew that a small part of me actually wanted to go. With Harry it felt like one big adventure, he was a hard person to understand, but, when you finally understood him, it was amazing.
Harry always got his way, and when he didn’t, he didn’t like it. So, I knew that I’d end up going out with him when he wanted to sooner or later. But, my thoughts, feelings, and actions betrayed what I knew I should do. It was obvious that I should try and stay away from him. I wasn’t ready for this. However, my parents had always told me to do what I think is right at the time, and so, I found myself sitting in my room wondering what coloured eye-shadow would go with my light pink flowery dress. It had five different types of flowers dotted sporadically over the material, and my grandmother had bought me this dress before she had died.
“Lacey!” My mother shouted up the stairs to me.
“Yeah mum?” I shouted back.
“There’s a young man at the door and he says that you two have a science project to do! Come downstairs!” She said.
“Coming!” I shouted and grabbed my jacket putting it on. I shoved my brown leather ankle boots on my feet. As I left the room I turned off the light and went downstairs.
“Hey Harry.” I smiled and hugged my mum walked out of the front door with Harry behind me.
“You look nice. I mean hot. I. . .” Harry fumbled over his words.
“You look,” I tried to find the right word to use, he was wearing his trademark black skinny jeans and a plain black t-shirt. “You look lovely.” I finished.
“Yeah, whatever.” Harry said opening his car door for me to get in. I jumped in and buckled up my seat belt as I waited for Harry to start the engine.
“Where are we going?” I asked.
“You’ll see, I bet you’ll love it. But, knowing you, you’re going to say it’s really cliché.” He said stepping on the gas and zooming down the street. He was probably going over the speed limit. A lot.
“So, a science project, huh?” I asked trying not to laugh.
“I figured you wouldn’t have told your mum about me, so what else was I supposed to say? ‘Hi, I’m Harry, and I’m taking your daughter out on a date. We’ll be back later, have a nice evening, oh, and your daughter isn’t that keen on coming.’ Your mum would have gone mad.” Harry mocked.
I didn’t say anything. There was an uncomfortable silence that hung in the air of the car until Harry flicked on the radio. Eminem feat. Rhianna was playing and I unconsciously started rapping along with the music.
“You listen to Eminem?” Harry looked at me with raised eyebrows.
“Yeah, I have like all his albums.” I smiled. “You?”
“Not really. I didn’t note you down as a rap sort of girl.” Harry shrugged.
“Oh, how far away are we from wherever it is we’re going?” I asked getting slightly impatient and feeling butterfly’s float into my stomach.
“We’re here.” Harry smiled at me and pointed over my shoulder to a fairground. Harry had been correct; I would have called his small gesture of affection ‘cliché’, but I loved it all the same.
