chapter sixteen | the bad times

It felt like a ton of bricks fell on my body. Those words kept replaying in my head. Mia is dead.
I was living in a nightmare. I thought we had more time they said we had more time. I wasn't ready like I said I would be.

" odell baby are you okay? "

" yea i just wanna be left alone right now please "

I was only 18 at the time and I just lost my bestfriend. She was diagnosed with cancer and she was so scared. I remember those long nights of her crying saying she didn't want to die. She wasn't only my bestfriend she was my girlfriend.

It's been six years since that day and today was her birthday. She always talked about being in her 20's and doing whatever she wanted.

" when im like 22 oh boy oh boy the world ain't ready for me " i could hear her say. I wish there was a rewind button on life.

" yea they wasn't ready for you baby " i placed the flowers on her tombstone. I couldn't help but think about the time when we first made love.

She may not be here physically but I know she's watching over me.

I peeked my head in the living room seeing her. Was I dreaming or was this real. It wasn't her but it was her before she got sick she had this glo. She looked so beautiful dressed in all white.

" you know they say it's rude to stare " that's when she turned around and looked at me.

" you look good baby but I can see you haven't been sleeping though " she said playing with my curls.

" I miss you so much is this really real or am I going crazy? " she laughed I was able to see that beautiful smile again.

" this is real, me and god had a long talk and he finally agreed to letting me see you because I need to tell you something " I could see whatever she had to tell me was bothering her.

" I need you to find love again those one night stands will not help you .. yes I see what you be doing you ain't slick so listen to me you just can't sleep with every girl thinking it's going to take the pain away the smoking and drinking partying doesn't help you gotta move on "

That's when I ran outside looking for mia's aunt Maria. " maria! where is he "

" she told me you'll find him "
