Chapter Three: The Art of the Hammer
“Ash, I made breakfast,” my dad called from the other side of my door.
“Ok I’ll be out in a minute” I called back getting out of bed and getting dressed, when I walked out of my room i was greeted by the smell of eggs and fresh bread. I walked out into the kitchen and sat down at the table across from my dad. We eat and talk until all the food is gone then get our stuff together and walk out the door.
Once we get to his shop my dad stops goes and gathers supplies for the war hammer. He gathered ten steel ingots and multiple molds and brought them back to me. “Whats that,” I asked then I saw a mold for a long spike. He then explained to me that at the end of war hammers there was always a long spike. “Oh,” I said as i followed him to a long table with a forge next to it where he set down the materials. I went to the forge and lit it putting a small stone bin above the flames. We then went to work over the next three days heating and pouring, pounding and shaping until we finally had a long staff with a large hammer on one end and a sharp spike on the other.
"Wow," I said as I picked up the finished hammer. It was surprisingly light for a weapon of its size. The owner would be here soon I thought, the sun was almost at full height. I then decided to make myself a sword telling my dad it was for someone else who would pay for it later. When I had finished I found a sheath that would fit and buckled it to my belt.
Just then The door opened and the man who had ordered the warhammer stepped in.
