"Sweeties" my dad yelled. "We've got visitors" "Coming" I yelled back down the stairs, shortly followed by a "coming" from Renee. I redid my hair into a nice ponytail and ran down the stairs.
As I walked towards the front door where my dad was standing I also made out the sight of three others that I didn't recognise. I walked up to dad and stood beside him. It wasn't until then that I realised that Brook was there and the other two must be his family.
"Heather, this is Maddie" Dad introduced me, the woman who looked like the mother shook my hand. "Maddie, this is Heather, Katie and Brook" Dad continued.
After welcoming them into the house we all sat down in the lounge. "Well tell us a bit about yourselves" mum exclaimed. Heather started talking "As you already know this is Brook and this is Katie. Katie is 16 and Brook is 14". "Why don't you kids go up to the rooms to get to know each other" mum said.
The four of us walked up the stairs Brook and I went to my room and Renee and Katie went to Renee's room. It was slightly awkward but I seemed to get on alright with boys.
"So..." I started off a conversation. "What you want a talk about" I continued hoping that Brook would start taking part in my one person conversation. He finally did...
"Well why don't you start off by introducing yourself to me".
"Ok" I stopped to think of what to say "well my name is Maddie, I am 14, I attend Fern Creek High School and I love horses and play soccer. Is that good enough?"
"Yeah that's great" He replied enthusiastically.
"Now introduce yourself" I encouraged the conversation on.
"Well...my name is Brook, I am also 14, I have just moved to Louisville and I Endurance Race on horses along with playing basketball and rugby. Well I played them at my old school. Was that good enough?".
"Perfect" I replied.
"So..." Brook tried to help keep the conversation going, but an awkward silence grew.

"Bye, nice to meet you" we farewelled our new neighbours off. I was kind of glad as it had been a bit awkward between Brook and I.

We galloped through the forest on one of my favourite riding trails, the wind felt great blowing through my hair. Galaxy was building great stamina and had muscles bulging from his shoulder and hindquarters. Galaxy's coat was also as glossy as ever and I was feeling incredibly proud of my work on him.
Mum has been pestering me constantly about the endurance racing which is getting really annoying, I mean come on mum I will tell you if I want to start endurance racing again if I feel comfortable doing it. Riding wasn't hard to get back into doing but endurance racing is something different, well to me anyway.
We continued to gallop through the trees as we came up to the stream. It was crystal clear due to the bright summery day. "Come on Galaxy" I pushed the powerful creature on the galloped underneath me. I urged the gelding forward as we approached the stream.
We were going to jump it.
Galaxy felt so confident galloping beneath me. I sat deep in the saddle and started counting to help with Galaxy's striding "1, 2, 3, Jump!"
I got into 2 point expecting him to jump the narrow stream. Confusion filled inside me as I hit the ice, cold stream.
I scrambled around in the stream, I gulped for air. Thank god the stream is only shallow. I managed to grab the edge of the rushing water, pulling myself out of the freezing cold liquid. I struggled up onto the the dirt track.
I lay there for a while, sides heaving, gasping for breaths. I tried to push myself up onto my feet, but every time I attempted to I fell back over. I gave up after a while, I felt so helpless. I just lay there, warm tears streaming down cheeks.
Oh my gosh, I can't seem to be able to write long chapters at the moment so I'm just going to stop here as it seems like an appropriate place to stop. Where's Galaxy? What do you think about this chapter, if you have any thoughts please comment and vote as a bonus. Hope you all saw the IMPORTANT thingy I published if you haven't please go and check it. I have noooo time to write at the moment as I have to ride and netball practice every afternoon of the school week and most weekends I am competing. Anyway that's enough from me, hope you have enjoyed the story so far 😀.
Remember to comment and vote.
