Brook's POV
"Knock, knock, knock" I knocked on the Parker's front door. It creaked open and Renee stood in the doorway. "Oh hi Brook" she greeted me with a friendly smile "what's up".
"Well, I was wondering if Maddie was home, I just wanted to ask her something about school". I looked at her hopefully.
"I'm afraid she's out riding in the forest" she looked at me disappointedly.
"Oh, what time should she be back" I asked.
Renee looked at her wrist, looking at a purple GG watch. "Oh, she should be back already"
"Why what time did she go out?" I asked worriedly.
"About three and a half hours ago".
"That's not to long" I exclaimed hopefully.
"Yeah, but she said she would be back ages ago, she was only going on a small trek with Galaxy".
"What if something's happened to her" I started thinking of the worst.
Suddenly I heard the sound of hooves galloping behind me. I turned around to see Galaxy cantering across the gravel. I looked at him realising that Maddie wasn't on him.
Where is she then?!
Renee and I ran towards Galaxy. "What happened boy, where is she" I asked him.
Galaxy whinnied. Before I knew it Maddie's parents came rushing from the stable block, Mrs Parker wheeling along in her wheelchair, worried looks on their faces at the sight of Galaxy and no rider.

We jumped into the Parker's 4wd Suzuki Grand Vitara and drove into the neighbouring forest. The jeep bumped along the trail Maddie had ridden on earlier that day.
We continued on till the jeep came towards the stream. The jeep urged to a halt as Mr Parker stepped on the brake. We ran towards the wet heap that lay still on the dirt.
Mrs Parker stayed in the car as it would waste to much time getting her wheelchair out of the boot of the jeep.
Mr Parker, Renee and I ran up to the frozen bundle that lay there not moving a muscle. "Maddie" Mr Parker kneeled beside her.
She looked at him before saying "where's Galaxy?".
"He's rugged up happily in his stall at home" Mr Parker replied encouragingly.
"Phew" Maddie smiled.
"You must be freezing!" Renee shivered.
"Yeah, c'mon Maddie lets get back to the house and into your warm bed missy, you can explain what happened later" Mr Parker said as he helped Maddie stand up and walk to the jeep.

Maddie's POV
I pulled the duvets up to cover my frozen body more before picking up my hot chocolate from my bedside table. It was 5 o'clock that afternoon and I had been in bed for to long! I put the now empty mug back not on my bedside table and walked out of my bedroom.
"How are you feeling honey?" Mum asked me, whizzing around the kitchen deciding what she was going to try and make for dinner.
"Much better"
"Great" mum stopped her wheelchair for a moment.
"Good, so I am well enough to go see Galaxy ay" I asked hopefully.
"No way it's will make you worse going out there, you will freeze!" Mum exclaimed angrily.
I looked at her as if she was stupid "first of all, have you seen the weather outside, the suns shining warmly, and second of all it will be for like 10 minutes, please mum"
"I guess so, but only if you dress up warmer than that"
"I will" I zoomed up to my room chucked on two extra layers of clothes and ran back down stairs. I jumped into some gumboots and sprinted to the stable block.
"Hey boy, sorry about earlier" he nudged my shoulder apologetically.
"It's alright I don't blame you, I didn't realise till was falling" I stroked in between his eyes, he stretched out his neck.
"That alligator was pretty scary wasn't it!" Galaxy snorted.
I kissed him on his cheek and gave him a hug before heading back to the house for dinner.

We sat down at the dinner table with a delicious lasagne displayed in front of us. As we dug into the warm meal a conversation started.
"So now can you tell us the details of what happened today?" Renee asked me.
"Sure" I replied.
"Great" Dad chipped in.
"So we were galloping up to the stream that I fell off at. We were going to attempt to jump it" as I said this mum buried her face in her hands.
I continued "Anyway, so as we were preparing to take off Galaxy must have spotted the alligator that I saw when I was falling".
Renee broke in "an alligator?" she looked at me with that evil sister look. "Sure there was an alligator" she said sarcastically.
"There was!" I was getting annoyed, of course she didn't believe me.
"That's enough Renee" Dad said sternly.
"As I was saying" I continued, Renee pulled a face at me "so Galaxy stopped and ran away, back to the house, I splashed into the stream, thankfully giving the alligator a fright and sending it down the stream. I splashed around in the water for a bit, finally pulling myself up onto the bank. I then just lay there till you found me".
"That was pretty dangerous darling" mum looked at me worriedly.
"I know, I'll be more careful in the future" I replied.
"Promise" she looked at me with a meaningful stare.
"Promise".
We left it at that, moving onto the next topic.

A few hours after dinner I decided to head up to bed and get a well due sleep.
