The next morning I went to check on Galaxy. As I was walking to the stables I heard a piercing scream of a horse, an extremely worried horse. I broke into a sprint, sprinting all the way to Galaxy's stall. I pushed open the stall door and ran in, quickly regretting it. Inside Galaxy was freaking out, neighing and kicking. I tried to figure out what was wrong, I soon realised. Sharing the stall with the gelding was a large, brown snake.
I started to panic. "There is a huge brown snake in my horse's stall. Ok calm down Maddie." I started doing big breaths to help calm myself down. "Woah boy, it's ok." I tried to hide how scared I was. First I have to calm Galaxy down, no point trying to sort out a snake with a crazy horse in the same enclosed space. Galaxy continued freaking out so I gave up on trying to make him calm. I tried to think, what could I do? I immediately stopped my thinking as the snake lashed out at Galaxy's hind leg. By instinct I stomped on the snake's head and watched it hit he ground with a thud. "Oh my god. I just killed a snake. The snake almost killed my horse and myself." I murmured in a stunned voice.
I ran back to the house and found my mum and dad in the kitchen. "Dad, mum, you'll never guess what just happened. I just found a huge, brown snake in Galaxy's stall and then it tried to bite Galaxy and then I stood on its head and then it died and then... oh I left it in their didn't I. But still." I babbled rapidly. "Wait let me see this snake." Dad demanded. "Yes, you should see it dad it's huge!" I exclaimed.
We walked back to the stable to show dad the dead snake. We entered Galaxy's stall. "See dad it's huge... oh, I swear it was bigger before." I said as we looked at the baby snake that lay still on the stall floor. Dad went to inspect the small snake. "Hmm, well it might not be big, but this snake is one of the most deadliest snakes in America. It is the Tiger Rattlesnake which is found in the Western Hemisphere. You lucky it didn't bite yourself or Galaxy." Dad explained. "Hmm, I still thought it was bigger." I murmured.
