The scorching sun beat down on me as I stepped cautiously into the waves, the chill of cold ocean water running up my spine. I looked down at my feet, and slowly trekked further into the water until I was up to my knees. I pulled up the hem of my sundress and closed my eyes, inhaling the salty air and enjoying the perfect summer day.

Suddenly, I was underwater, and something was on top of me, keeping me from getting up. I struggled for a few moments until I felt the weight lift and I shot up, sputtering and blinking the salt water out of my green eyes.

“I’m sooo sorry!” I heard a voice say. It was a boy’s voice, and a very nice one at that. I turned around to see who this voice belonged to, and was surprised to see a beautiful blonde boy with brilliant blue eyes and a body board in his hand. “Are you okay?” he asked, and I had to take a moment to recover from the shock of his perfection. “I’m fine,” I mumbled, running my fingers through my matted mess of brown hair. “Are you sure?” he asked, and I smiled inwardly at the concern in his voice. Where was that gorgeous accent from? I nodded, and the boy stared at me for a moment before speaking again.

“My name’s Niall,” he said, extending his hand and giving me a crooked smile. “I’m Dakota,” I said, shaking his outstretched hand and hesitantly returning his smile. The breeze picked up and I shivered a little, freezing in my wet dress. He saw my goosebumps and frowned, pointing up the beach a little ways. “My house is just up the beach, do you need some dry clothes?” I shook my head, clenching my teeth to prevent them from chattering. “No, thank you. I’m okay.” He laughed a little and shook his head. “No you’re not, you’re freezing! Let me just go grab my friends and tell them we’re heading home.”

“I don’t want to be a bother...” I trailed off, and he shook his head rapidly. “It’s no problem at all! You can stay at my place and hang out until your clothes are dry.” He smiled sweetly, and his face was so irresistible. “That actually sounds great, thank you so much for offering.”

“You’re welcome!” he said, grabbing my hand and leading me up the beach to where four other boys were lounging on some towels. I shivered a little at the sparks I felt when his hand touched mine.

“Boys, this is Dakota. I ran over her with a body board on accident and she needs some dry clothes, so I’m taking her back to our house. Who wants to come?” Immediately a boy with curly brown hair and stunning green eyes jumped up, grabbing his towel and trotting over to us. “I’ll go!” he said, and flashed me a dazzling grin. I noticed his dimples as he smiled, and how soft his lips looked. “I’m Harry,” he said, giving me a cheeky wink. “Nice to meet you, love.” I smiled at him, thinking that there was no way both of these boys could be so perfect.

The other three got up too, introducing themselves as Louis, Zayn, and Liam. They were all gorgeous, and I certainly didn’t mind spending a little time at their house. Louis and I immediately hit it off, going back in forth in an easy banter and laughing the whole way up the beach. Harry and Louis held hands the entire time, while Liam rode on Niall’s back and Zayn walked on the other side of me. They were all so sweet and funny, but cheeky too. They were easy to make friends with.

When we got to their house, Niall went upstairs to get me some dry clothes, and I sat on the couch in the living room with the other boys. I asked them a few questions about where they were from, as I noticed they all had accents. They told me they were all from England, except for Niall, who was Irish. They were here on a little break from a tour of some sort.

And then it hit me. They had looked familiar, but I couldn’t quite place where I knew them from.

I was sitting in One Direction’s house.
