My name is Alex and I am an orphan. I'm not chubby but I'm not skinny either and I have tan skin. My eyes are blue and green and hair is dirty blonde. My best friend also lives at the orphanage. Her names Jess. same hair and eye color only she's a lot skinnier and has a new broken bone every week from doing stunts. We and all the other girls in the orphanage are 13. Now that you know us lets get along with the story
My vision started to fade in as a blinked my eyes. I slowly propped my self up with my arms. I looked down at my nightgown made of rags and looked up to see Jess with the covers in her hand. I noticed that it was still pitch black and all the other girls in the beds next to me were asleep.
"What time is it Jess?" I said very innocently and high pitched
"3am." She said taking a step back in fear
My eyes widened "I'm going to kill you" I said in the same innocent voice
I picked up the stone behind my head that the orphanage Called a pillow and With all the energy I had left I darted it straight at her. She ducked just in time. Unlucky for us it landed right on diamond's bed. She jumped up with her beauty mask still on. Diamond quickly ripped it off and looked at us. I swear that day I saw a thousand demons in her. Weird.
"Miss Regivale!" She shouted keeping her glare directly at us.
My heart sank. Crap! Now the demons calling the devil.
"I'll be there in a second just wait!" Shouted back the devil
Slowly girls started to wake around us as diamond turned on the lights. Diamond was a needy blond bitch....sorry I just hate her. Everyday she ratted out every single one of us. Nobody liked her except her posy and miss Devil. I turned and put my feet on the ground. The coldness of the hardwood floor on a cold winters night sent shivers up my spine. I felt Jess plop down on the bed next to me.
"Look up" she whispered
I looked up to see every girl walking around doing stuff in all the confusion. They were reading magazines and moving around to get to their friends.
"Yeah?"I whispered back confused.
"This was my plan."she whispered again sounding proud of herself
Shocked I looked all around the room alined with beds. The chaos was growing for, every girl was now awake. Girls doing cartwheels and painting each others nails. Playing tag and doodling in journals. I didn't get what she meant.
"It's your plan to get us beaten by Miss Devil, AGAIN!"I whispered back angrily.
I pulled up my left sleeve to show her all the bruises from the past. She smiled then said something back but it was hard to here over the chaos. But I think I knew what she said when she pointed to her bed with nothing on it then to her backpack on the ground. I sat up and walked over to my bags. At this point there was girls throwing pillows and balls around the room and I was stuck having to dodge every single one. I pulled my sweatshirt out of my bag. It was grey with the word sup spray painted onto it with teal spray paint. I also slipped on some jeans under my nightgown. This time I ran through the chaos and jumped on my bed. I waited for Miss Devil to arrive. As she walked into the room I noticed that she was only wearing a button up shirt and a thong. Miss Regivale is young and probably has her boyfriend over. As she paced in, all the girls stopped what they were doing and ran to their beds. She walked up to diamond and said
"What do you need!? I'm sick of you little brats so make this quick!"
As Diamond dramatically explained that we threw a pillow at her Jess slowly made her way to Miss Devil sneakily. The keys were on a ring looped around her thong. Jess quickly undid it and turned around to run back to her bed. Her foot steps were very light and so quiet you'd think she was a ninja in a past life. When Diamond was done Miss devil shot a glare at Jess and me. She quickly walked out of the room with diamond at her side. Obviously she was getting the paddle. Soon all the girls got up and crowded around us for, the saw what Jess did.
"Promise to Cover for us and say you don't know where we are and we will give you the other keys." Jess exclaimed as she took the window key off of the ring.
"Promise" the girls said in perfect harmony
Jess threw the keys to the closest girls and then stood. I stood also. Together we walked over to the only window in the room as the crowd of girls followed us. Jess handed me the key and I pushed it into the lock. I heard a click when I turned it. That was the sound of freedom. Together me and Jess lifted up the window.The cold breeze came rushing in.
"3:30 garbage truck. Right on time." Said Jess looking down from the two story building window.
Behind us we heard a the ugly voice of miss Regivale scream. We turned our head to see her breathing like a bull. She ran straight for us. Quickly we jumped out the window. When we were air born the only thing I could think is these are the crazy stunts that Jess pulls all the time that get her limbs broken. Crap! Did I just blindly go through with this!? When I felt the impact of the trash bags I opened my eyes to make sure I didn't die. Jess's eyes opened to meet mine. We stood up to realize that all the girls were at the front door while Miss Devil was running toward the truck. Then it happened. The best thing in the world happened. We moved! The truck started to move. We waved and smiled.
"Bye we won't miss you" I shouted glowing inside as we drove away from the crowd of girls waving back and laughing and the sweating angry Devil chasing us.
Sweet Freedom was ours.
