Ash Mortimer:
I turned around on the bed hoping to hold My angel in my arms and feel her warmth but to my surprise, she wasn't there.
I sat up and rubbed my eyes turning the night lamp on and adjusting to the light.
I looked around the room, she wasn't there.
Maybe she went to the bathroom? At least that's what I thought.I went and knocked on the door opening it in the process and she wasn't there.
I went out the room going to the kitchen and living room still not there. And to be honest I started panicking.
Where the hell is she??As I was walking back up the stairs, I heard her voice. I followed it and it leads me to my little princess's room. The door was left ajar, so I pushed it more open and leaned against the door frame.
She was sat on Rose's bed, with her in her arms, Rose fast asleep and Everleigh stroking her hair humming a lullaby, rocking her ever so slightly.
A million feelings ran through me, something I'm not used to, but something I can't help but feel when I'm around Everleigh. And her love and protection towards Rose are unbelievable.
I was lost in my thoughts, smiling to myself looking at my girls.
"Are you done staring?"
I shook my head snapping me back to reality. I repositioned my self on the door frame before whispering back"I can never stop staring at you, you are so beautiful to me." I couldn't help but give a goofy smile to her.
She was blushing, so cute.
What?! Dude? Cute?? CUTE?? Snap out of it, you're a gang leader, you don't say "cute"."Anyway, why are you in her room?" I asked questioned.
She looked down at Rose than back up to me.
"She had a nightmare and she was crying."
I furrowed my brows
"How did you hear her cry, I didn't. We have soundproof walls and her room is 3 doors down from ours." Curiosity laced my voice.
How on earth can she hear her cry? That's not possible!
She looked up at me again, walking towards me and pushing me out of the door making sure to make as little noise as possible. Before closing the door she gave one last glance towards Rose and shutting the door she faced me.
"I can hear her breathing with all doors locked and soundproof walls. I guess it's a mum thing." She shrugged walking off.
Not satisfied with the answer I grabbed her by the wrist pulling her to face me once more.
"That's impossible."
"Well believe it."
"And how come you can hear so well, I mean could you do that before?"
I'm really curious to know. The only people I know that can do that are professional assassins or sentinels. She paused for a moment, thinking about how to respond.
Everleigh:
"When I was living with Dan, i always made sure I could hear her because I was always scared the times Dan didn't go to bed that he would go to Rose's room to harm her and I was scared that if I didn't listen in, that I couldn't ever stop him."
That and the fact that I'm a trained sniper and sentinel, so I had practice. But he doesn't need to know that right now.
Looking back up at him, I could see the hurt and anger rushing through him. I placed my arms around his torso laying my head on his chest breathing in his sent. His arms immediately can around me and held me close to him.
