Laura POV
I hung up the phone with out a word and let the silent tears flood down my face, steadily hitting the floor as quiet as possible.
I couldn't go back to sleep, because that would bring even more tears, so I got dressed and took a walk.
I rode down the elevator silently, it was a ghost town in the lobby except for the one front desk lady.
She gave me a look basically to ask what was wrong, but decided it wasn't her business and stared back at the screen and typing away furiously on the light keys.
I walked to one of the chairs as far away from the desk as possible.
I stared at the wall replaying the call in my head.
"Hello." I answered the cell phone carefully, watching my volume level around the sleeping boys.
"Are you the only daughter of Marissa and Landon?" The man asked.
"Yes.." I replied cautiously, stretching out the word to make it much longer than needed.
"You're parents have died at the times of 2:32 and 2:35 am. They died in a very tragic car collision. We are very sorry for your loss but according to these documents, all of your relatives are dead, but the godparents name are listed as Heather and Nick Dallas. (A/N) I didn't know his parents real names. Would you be able to have them fill out some adoptive paper work so they are you're legal gaurdians?" He explained and questioned very carefully. Sounding sorrowful for me but official at the same time.
I let my mouth drop open.
Had my mom even met Cam's mom? I had no clue.
But then the real truth sank in.
Oh. That's right. My parents are gone.
"Ma'am?" The impatient business man on the other line asked.
"Sorry, sorry. I had no clue my parents knew them. Can I call you back after I talk to them?" I said, trying not to let my voice crack or even show a sign I had tears blurring my eyes and about to spill out like a massive flood.
"I'm sure we can work something out." He said properly.
He gave me a number to call them with a I hung up the phone without another word.
I sniffled and suddenly heard a familiar voice behind me.
"Laura?"
I gave the sweet boy a small smile.
"Hi cam."
"What happened?" His face was written with confusion and worry.
"My parents, they, um," I gave him a look, trailing off.
He realized what had happened and engulfed me in a tight embrace.
"I'm so sorry." He whimpered.
"I officially have no family." I sighed, sniffling again.
"I'm your family. All of Magcon, we're you're family. And we're not going anywhere." He promised, stroking my hair.
"Apparently Your parents are my godparents... I didn't even know my mom knew them, well enough asked them to be my godparents..." I said.
His mouth fell open in disbelief.
"You're living with me?"
"I guess." I shrugged my shoulders like I had no regard of the fact I was moving several hundred, possibly even thousand, miles away from my home.
"Wow." He stared off. "That's crazy."
"I know." I said.
"Do you wanna go back to sleep?" I asked him. "Then again, why were you even up?"
"I heard you crying. I thought it was another dream until you got up and left after chucking your phone at the wall." He explained.
"Oh." I giggled.
"And to answer your question. No I don't wanna sleep. I wanna stay here with you." He smiled.
Cam kissed the top of my forehead and cupped my cheek.
I knew this wasn't a romantics thing because Cameron and Nash were like the two older brothers I never had. They took care of me and were way overprotective. Especially with Hayes. Hayes being Nash's little brother and all.
I listened to Cameron tell me stories about him and everyone until the lady from the front desk told me the continental breakfast and we were welcome to help ourselves.
I gave a small smile at the thought of food.
I moped over to the buffet and fixed some stuff.
I picked at my food glumly and didn't say a thing.
"Don't tell the guys. I don't want any sympathy from them. I'll tell Hayes later. But I really just wanna keep my mind off of... It.... For a while." I told Cam as he chow down on his toast.
He have me and understanding look and nodded.
"I'm really sorry. No 13 year old should have to go through what you have. And you're such a fighter." He smiled.
"Well it's better to look strong and feel weak, then look weak and feel weak. If that makes any sense." I smally smiled again.
He got up to get more food and kissed me on the cheek on his way by.
"It makes perfect sense." He laughed.
