"HERE I AM ONCE AGAIN
I'M TORN INTO PIECES
CAN'T DENY IT, CAN'T PRETEND
JUST THOUGHT YOU WERE THE ONE"
Fuck
. . .
Ryan saw a life with Emmett. She saw them skipping along the sunset, hands intertwined in a loving grasp. Getting married along La Push beach with her friends and family, wrestling on the couch on Saturday mornings. She saw so much with him that she hadn't even thought about before. And it made her heart warm, she had never felt warm and secure.
Her entire life had been filled with disappointment and a sinking feeling of dread. Every relationship she made was the background to the dread and grief of losing them. She didn't know how to cherish and love someone without expecting their goodbye. It was inevitable, everyone left. Relationships were hard for Ryan Uley, they were a constant battle in her mundane life. And there would probably never be a time where she wasn't expecting the farewell.
She had been afraid of love for so long because she knew what happened when one loved too deeply. She wanted to love, but somewhere in the back of her mind she despised and feared what would happen to her once she let herself fall. She partially fell for Paul and Jacob, but she never let herself fall down the deep hole with no rope to climb back up. She always had an exit route. But this time around, she couldn't find the rope. It had disappeared into the abyss and she wasn't willing to look for it.
This is what she was missing, this was what she had to wait for. The way he looked at her, resolved any boiling issues deep within. The way her heart reacted to his touch and his voice was raw and wired into her. She was made for him and he was made for her. She would protect him from anyone and anything, she would love him unconditionally until he told her to stop.
"My favorite word is fuck. Favorite color is purple and I love singing- but I'm shitty at it." Ryan laughed, walking the forest floor at a comfortable pace.
"Okay, no karaoke nights. Got it." Emmett teased, still in awe of his mate. She was absolutely breathtaking, her eyes widened when she talked about herself. She had the cutest freckle by her left eye. He had to remind himself he couldn't just kiss the cute little thing. Not yet at least. He had to restrain himself.
"My mom used to sing to me, that's one of the few memories ingrained into my head.' Ryan sighed, giving the boy a small smile. "I could recite the song word for word, Elvis Presley. But I clearly didn't get a voice from her."
A nice silence loomed over the pair as they made their way through the lush forest of Forks. Their steps in a beautiful Rhythm. This was nice, no expectations, no rules. Just two kids meeting for the first time.
"So you're Sam's sister?" Emmett asked nervously, He knew her brother was angry, he wasn't sure who he would be angry with more. But that didn't matter right now, she was here, with him. And hopefully Sam would know that Emmett would die for her, he would die over and over to keep her safe.
"Yeah, unfortunately." The petite girl muttered, pushing her hair behind her ears. "He's such a pain in the ass- but I still love him- most of the time. Oh also, I just want to apologize about my freakout by the stream- I panicked I guess."
"It's fine really- not a big deal." Emmett spewed, attempting to catch his irrelevant breaths. His entire body yearned for her, every step she took farther from him, forced his legs to shadow. Every breath she took, he took with her. This was a life shattering bond, he didn't understand how he could walk with this earth without her for such a long time.
