she walked through the doors, feeling a wave of sensation and excitement crash over her.

before doing anything else - not even emptying her quite full bladder - she clicked the settings icon on her phone and connecting to the airport wi-fi. as soon as it was verified, she felt her phone tremble with messages from her two best friends in the world.

amelia had met both connor and lily online, gushing over their favourite show, stranger things. and ever since they started talking, they couldn't be closer. even though around a thousand miles separated them, they promised each other they'd meet one day.

and today was that day.

even though she and her friends were only fifteen, amelia was on her way to atlanta where connor lived. she began to scroll through the messages that flooded her instagram inbox. she once again was met by the fantastic usernames her friends had chosen. let's just say that youtube had a fairly large impact on their lives, along with stranger things, it, and both casts.

a smile appeared on amelia's face. this is what she had wanted for years and it was only hours away.

amazingamelia: at the airport now bb im so hyped i love you guys so much

kicktheconnor: i'm leaving for the airport at like 10 bbgsssss

amazingamelia: that's the only reason my mom is letting me stay with a guy for two weeks

a smile settled on her lips as she adjusted her grip on her bags and headed to the entrance of where they were supposed to be meeting.

since lily lived in new york, and amelia only about an hour away in new jersey, they decided to meet at the same airport and fly together to meet their other best friend, connor. he lived in atlanta, which was almost a thousand miles away. and even if it wasn't really that far, to lily and amelia, it felt (and looked) like an eternity away.

today they would all meet up and have the time of their lives together. today was the day they'd learn how it feels to be whole.

then, out of the corner of her eye, she spotted the glint of lily's golden hair. that golden hair and shining smile that she had seen so many times in pictures.

instead of grasping her bags and running quickly towards her, amelia just desperately ran, dropping all of her things.

lily did the same.
