Courtney has always been there for Hiro. Ever since they were in elementary, she would always follow him around. Every guy fell onto their knees for her especially when she reached highschool. And with every suitor, she would always turn them down. Why was it that Courtney never left Hiro's side? Because she saw herself in him.
Her only fault was, she saw herself in Hiro's outside demeanor and not with what he was within.
But even so, she loved fully. It's just that Hiro, isn't the 'i-want-to-be-in-a-relationship' kind of guy. He thinks it's just a hindrance to everything. Buying things for his girlfriend, doing things he usually doesn't do, making that mushy lovey dovey stuff, just thinking about it makes him cringe.
Today was Physical Education Class and the teacher finished the class early because it was just announced that they were on a half day today due to the teachers' meeting about the upcoming Club Fair.
"Students, please wait 'till 1:00PM then you can go home." Coach Bob said heading out for the gym door.
"Aww.." said the class.
"No 'aww' from all of you. No one steps outside the school campus. If someone disobeys me, you'll fail my subject." Then he walked out leaving the class Aww-ing in misery.
So they all gathered their stuff and headed towards the locker area. One for boys and one for girls. When Melody headed towards her locker area, she wasn't that surprised but it kind of hurt. She wasn't treated like this back at home. She saw food mush all over her locker. Moldy and rotten. Some of the girls were giggling, some of them were looking at her.. pitying her.
So instead of changing into her uniform, she just stayed in her P.E. clothes. This is the reason why she never wanted attention from large crowds. Their stares.. it's suffocating.
She went out the locker room and heard one last girl say, "such a weirdo. Serves her right."
And she broke down into silent sobs. Covering her mouth to avoid letting out any noise.
What did she do to deserve this? Was it because she was friends with the school popular boy or was it because some saw her embarrassment when she competed in the market place singing contest?
Then a red headed girl came out and followed Melody and sat on a bench just outside both locker areas. "Hey!" She said. "Aww geez, don't cry." She wiped Melody's tears off her face and tried to fix her braided hair.
Melody always wore braids. Courtney thought. She really is a girl from a province. Dark brown hair and eyes, she wasn't that much tanned either.. but she doesn't look like she worked on fields.
"Here." Courtney gave her a handkerchief. Melody looked slowly, stopped crying for a while and gave Courtney a terrified yet confused look. "Don't worry. I'm not like those girls in the locker room." And still offered her the hanky. Melody slowly reached out for it and used it to wipe her tears and snot off.
"S-sorry. I'll wash it so.." Melody said face flushed.
"No need." Courtney took her handkerchief. "Are you okay?" She asked.
Unknowingly, Hiro was done with changing his clothes and heard their little conversation. "Of course she isn't. Can't you see, she's crying?" And he then snobbed at the girls and went straight outside gym. Melody noticed him carrying painting materials and was curious so she wanted to go after him.
Dylan came with him but he didn't notice Melody nor Courtney. As well as the other boys too.
Courtney never saw this side of Hiro before. He never wanted to enggage himself towards other people's business.
