Prologue
Gina Thompkins

"Girl, you are going to be a virgin forever." Hayden told me, shaking his head as he scrolled through his Instagram feed.

I rolled my eyes, "Shut up. I'm going to lose it soon."

Haley, Hayden's twin, laughed to the right of me. She even slapped her leg for effect before turning towards me and putting her hands on my thighs, "I told you I could be your first."

Hayden made a gagging sound, "You said that years ago and she still hasn't taken you up on that offer sis. I'm pretty sure that means no."

Haley ignored him and proceeded to lean in towards me. I scrambled up away from her despite the erratic beating of my heart and the slight want to feel her plump lips against mine.

"I'd love to eat you out, Gina." Haley said, licking her pink lips and twisting a strand of her hair around her finger in a very seductive matter.

My stomach erupted with butterflies but I looked away from her to stop her intense brown eyes from penetrating my soul , "Stop joking with me Haley."

Haley laughed before showing me her slightly crooked white teeth in a smile, "Oh, I'm not joking baby girl."

Hayden clucked his tongue, "Let's go out to a gay club tomorrow and maybe you'll hook up with a nice gentlewoman."

"Oh, what if I'm seen there?" I asked, a little paranoid that my parents would somehow find out.

Hayden and Haley rolled their brown eyes in sync, "You do realize you're 26 right? You're grown." Hayden said.

"Not to mention, you dress like a boy half the time I see you?" Haley questioned.

"You're right. We can go tomorrow night."

Haley laughed, "I can't even imagine you at a club."

Hayden clapped his hands together causing his many rings to clank together, "Let me do your make up and Haley can do your hair!"

Hayden and Haley both had their cosmetology license. Hayden worked at Sephora and was one of the most popular makeup artist there. Haley worked downtown at some popular, pro-black salon that specialized in dealing with natural hair.

"What if I decide to dress like a boy?" I asked Hayden.

He pouted, "Dress like a girl tomorrow."

"Fine, fine. Go home, I have to work tomorrow morning." I told the twins before turning off my TV.

I laid on the bed, staring at my ceiling aimlessly. I couldn't believe that I hadn't came out to my parents yet or why it mattered how I lived my life here.

I was all the way in California while they were still in Maine. They'd never find out if I went to a gay bar or even if I dated a girl.

What could they say anyways? I paid my own bills and supported myself so them cutting me off wouldn't be that bad. I hardly talked to them now due to the strain of my secrets.

I definitely will start living my life the way I want. I can't continue to hold myself back from enjoying life because I am afraid of what my parents will say about me.

Tomorrow will be the first day that I live my life according to my own rules.
