Chapter 5

Knock, knock.

‘Enter.’ Mr. Tomlinson said.

I awkwardly shuffled my feet to enter the room, Niall trailed along behind me.

‘Sir, I'm sorry we’re lat-‘ I got cut off by the sound of Mr. Tomlinson’s raised voice.

‘What have I said Miss Marlene? I gave you an option and you threw it awa-‘ Mr. Tomlinson got cut off by Niall.

‘Sorry to interrupt, Mr. Tomlinson. This wasn’t our fault, there was a faulty accident in the elevator for around 20 minutes. We didn’t know what to do so we stayed calm and waited for some help. After a few minutes I tried to fix the problem and fortunately it worked. So I'm sorry sir but we couldn’t help being late.’

Me and Mr. Tomlinson was shocked by Niall’s answer.

‘I'm sorry for the misunderstanding.’ Mr. Tomlinson sounded guilty.

I was about to walk out the door when Mr. Tomlinson called out to me.

‘Adrienne, since you and Niall know each other. Why don't you give a helping hand and show him around our floor?’

‘Yeah that would be lovely.’ Niall smirked.

‘Sir, please. Is there anything else I can do? I really preferred not to do that...’ I spoke softly and quietly.

‘I know you might not be comfortable with that but a job is a job. Unless you want to show my son around as well.’ Sir answered.

‘Yes, sir. I would prefer that to be done.’ I spoke happily.

Mr. Tomlinson dialled a number on his office phone.

‘Louis, come to my office now. Your break finished 20 minutes ago.’ He spoke into the phone.

‘It’s a shame that we have some company on the tour, I thought it would be nice just the two of us.’ Niall whispered in my ear and place a hand on my back, sending a cold shiver down my back.

A few moments later, a tall guy with greyish blue eyes came in. Hey I know him! I bumped into him earlier.

‘Hey, dad.’ Louis waved.

‘Louis, sir at work please.’ Mr. Tomlinson spoke softly.

‘Sorry, da- sir.’

‘Thank you, know you will be given a tour by one of my best employees.’

‘I saw her earlier! What’s your name then, beautiful?’ Louis held out a hand for me to shake.
