Once upon a time it was my birthday.
Oh, looks like a fairytale is coming true.
Today is my birthday.
I'm seventeen.
What do I want for it?
For people to ignore it.
Glad its a Saturday or Braydon would have told everyone at school. Like he did last year.
"Shh..." I heard someone whisper. Oh great.
"Do you think she's awake?"
"No... Her eye's are closed."
My first mental debate of the day: Should I let them know I'm awake or let them have their fun?
Pro's: If I let them think I'm awake they won't pull a prank on me.
Con's: I might not get breakfeast in bed.
Damn. Thats a toughie.
"HAPPY BIRTHDAY!" They scream and I'm attacked with silly string. I try to avoid getting it in my hair but that's nearly impossible.
They should be done...
I sit up to tell them they owe me waffles but no. They have more silly string. I close my eyes and let them spray me to their hearts content.
"Why thank you, for the beginning of the worst birthday ever." I said. Of course, they laughed, thinking I was joking. "Whats so funny?" I ask. They look awkward for a moment.
"We made you a birthday cake!" Braydon says happily. He yanks me out of bed and starts pulling me out of bed into the kitchen.
"Oh one sec sweetheart, I got a call." My dad says staying in my room to make the conversation.
"What kind of cake?" I ask.
"Your favorite!" Braydon says. I tear from his grasp and run down to the kitchen to get my oreo birthday cake. Before I could even smell it I felt myself be lifted up on to someones shoulder. "Wait for dad shrimp."
Waiting.
Waiting.
Waiting.
Doorbell rings.
"BRAYDON IF YOU'RE THROWING ME A PARTY-"
"I've got it." My dad says coming down stairs. I stop talking and look at the door curiously. My dad gives Braydon a pointed glance.
"Time to play Xbox." I'm silent until we get into his room.
"What's that about?"
"A special client." Is all he says. We play Halo Reach in silence. He wins of course because it's not my life goal to win this game everytime I play this.
"Hanna, Braydon! Come on down here!" We get up and walk down stairs. Sitting in the living room is my dad, and worried looking woman, and a guy with his head in his hands.
....
I don't know what to expect.
"Braydon, Hanna, this is Nate. He's going to be living with us for... Awhile. Don't treat him like a guest but part of the family. He'll be going to school with you guys." He looked up then. The first thing that I noticed was his complection. Un-natural looking acne. Hallow cheekbones. He was a druggie. Oh dear, another stay in. My dad is such a push over.
"I'll go and finish my game." I said starting to walking up the stairs.
"What about you're cake?" The woman, I'm asuming is Nate's mother asks.
