Phobia (Boyxboy) Part 11
I knew I couldn’t get far; after all he was a Demon and was more like an advanced human with his extra speed, powers and strength. But that didn’t stop me from putting as much distance from us and much as I could. The only thing that I think I truly regretted was not looking where I was going after being kept inside for so long.
Otherwise I might have seen the big van heading my way.
I don’t really remember much apart from the indescribable pain that radiated over my body for a split-second before I couldn’t take it anymore and passed out. And that’s all I could remember until I finally woke up again.
*2 Years Later*
I groaned and grumbled in my bed, shifting to my side so I could get more comfortable while muttering angrily about the light being too bright in the room – had I left the window open? I couldn’t remember, and to be honest I couldn’t care I just wanted it to go away.
As my body and mind slowly began to wake up I noticed certain things about me, strange things. My throat felt croaky and dry, as if I had been in a desert or not drank anything for a long, long time. My body seemed to throb in pain everywhere and the clothes I was wearing felt uncomfortable and scratchy against my skin.
But the noise! That was the worst part. The damn incessant beeping noise, it never seemed to stop. I reached up to block my ears from the horrible thing and heard the clicking sound of my bones cracking after finally being used for so long. What was going on?
I finally decided to open my eyes and was stunned into silence with what I saw, my blood freezing and my face paling. I was in the hospital, hooked up to a heart monitor which was the beeping noise and a strange man sleeping beside my bed on an uncomfortable looking plastic chair.
His face seemed stressed and weary, his eyes dark with big bags under them as if he couldn’t remember the last time he had experienced a night’s good sleep. His clothes looked scruffy like he had been wearing them for a while and I’m pretty sure the smell in the room was from him too. Yet strangely, he looked familiar.
My head began to pound as I tried to piece together what had happened to me last and who this guy was - all I could remember was running from something before a bright light came - so I decided to relax and instead look around for some sort of clue as to what the hell was going on.
I looked around the pristine white room spotting a weird plant, loads of machines that I was hooked up to and a calendar! Score! I strained my eyes and squinted at the date; trying to see how long I had been here and my eyes widened at the year...I had been here for two years!
Just then, before I was able to freak out properly, the door opened and a teenager around my age walked in with two cups of steaming coffee. Oh what I wouldn’t do from some plain old water to sooth my aching throat. He didn’t seem to notice me at first as he too looked like he could use some rest, instead he gently placed the cups onto a table nearby and shook the man on the chair.
“Drew? Drew wake up, I brought some coffee up.” Slowly, the sleeping man – Drew – roused from the clutches of sleep and I almost wished he hadn’t he seemed peaceful until he opened his eyes. They seemed so lost, heartbroken and full of pain; I wanted to cry just by looking at their expressions.
“Coffee,” Drew croaked sleepily, opening his eyes slightly to see the other guy. Wordlessly he handed it over and began drinking his own. After drinking the coffee Drew seemed a little livelier and unexpectedly grabbed the teenager in for a small kiss. My eyes widened as they parted with a sorrowful smile and randomly, the saying ‘Parting is such sweet sorrow’ popped into my head from Romeo and Juliet.
Before I could tear my eyes away from then, their eyes simultaneously looked over to the bed where I was and they chocked on their saliva. “Luke...Do you see what I see?”
“No, because I think I’m hallucinating.” The other guy – Luke replied, both of them not taking their eyes f me for a second as if I would vanish if they did. Luke....Drew....Demons.
I gasped in pain as a wave of flashbacks hit me like a migraine, everything flashing in my head for what seemed like a split second yet the memories lasted a lifetime as well as the pain. I barely heard Drew and Luke as they rushed over to me, their voices echoing in my head, bouncing around like I was empty inside. But the last day I had spent with them, the once that caused me to be here was the clearest.
Luckily, the flashes suddenly stopped again and instead I was being squished between two warm and comforting bodies, one sniffing slightly while the other was peppering my face with kisses every few seconds.
“What...What happened?” I croaked, Luke unlatched himself from me and immediately brought my some cool water which I was immensely grateful for. After I was refreshed Drew started speaking.
“After that...disagreement between us, you panicked I think and ran out of the house, you didn’t notice that there was a truck coming at you and...” He trailed off, now wanting to say it out loud. “Anyways,” He cleared his throat.” As soon as that happened an ambulance arrived because the driver called after he realised he had hit someone, you had a lot of injuries that should be healed right now but you were in a coma for two years...” He ended on a whisper.
I felt my eyes moisten and I began apologising for the grief and trouble I had caused them when suddenly somebody punched my arm, though obviously not too hard. “OW!” I whined, retracting the arm close to me as I glared at Luke. Yep, Luke – he had certainly done a lot of growing in the past two years, more so than I would expect.
“Now it’s your turn to listen to us! Ashton, we are so, so, so sorry for what happened back then. I didn’t mean to act the way I did but the truth was I didn’t exactly have a great upbringing. But it was wrong of me to compare you to the monsters that hurt me and I know that now. “
“And I’m sorry for treating you the way I did, I know that I should’ve been easier on you and more understanding since you are my mate too. I was just frustrated and you know I would never hurt you right?” I nodded, speechless at their words. I couldn’t honestly believe that this was happening. I didn’t do anything wrong?
Luke kissed me gently on one cheek while Drew did the other “You’ll never be wrong with us. They replied in unison and my hear melted as I threw my arms around them and brought them closer to me; my boys.
I sniffled happy tears while Drew grinned as we pulled away, Luke staying snuggled up to me side. “I’ll go get the nurse.”
