"DO IT EREN!! SEAL THE HOLE!!! GOOOOO!!!!"

Come on Mikoto!! Get a grip, stay awake!! We've got a blood transfusion on the way!!!'

"EREN'S DOING IT!! PROTECT HIM WITH YOUR LIFE!!"

Mikoto's eyes opened wide, and she gasped.

She was in a soft bed.. The last thing she remembered was thus..

She had seen the lift in the center of the giant wooden room filled with gas tanks and nozzles lower into the center of the room.. as the titans noticed the lift filled with people.. armed with rifles..

They had waited patiently, as the titans closed in on the group.. before firing directly into the monster's eyes...  in an instant.. Mikoto had watched the titans cut down by Mikasa, Annie, and Reiner...

But Connie and Sasha had failed to cut deep enough... 

At that moment, Mikoto had prepared her power to destroy the remaining two.. but before she knew it.. the blood loss was too much... she had collapsed... 

After that.. it was just blurs.. shouts.. and random colors.. streaming past her hazy vision, her vision swimming in and out of view of Mikasa and Armin's faces, telling her to stay awake..

And now.. she was here.. in a soft, comfortable bed... with somebody wiping her cheek with a napkin.

It was Mikasa.. she was rubbing Mikoto's cheek with with the white little towel, feeling her forehead at the same time with the other hand. 

"Stay still." said Mikasa. "You have something on your face."

"S-stop it.. " Mikoto muttered irritably. "I'm fine.."

"No.. you're not.." said Mikasa, wetting the towel in a nearby sink and then proceeding to rub Mikoto's cheek.

"Stop!" Mikoto muttered, her bangs crackling slightly. "Stop it Mom-..."

Mikoto froze. Her blood went cold.. She had just flashed back to the image of a dead woman that looked a little like her.. lying in a pool of blood..

Mikoto began to shiver.. she.. she hadn't mentioned her own mother or father in months.. not after-..

Mikasa stopped rubbing Mikoto's face. She patted Mikoto's hand.. which was stuck with the rest of her arm in a cast.  "I'm sorry.. did.. your mother used to do the same thing?"

"When.. I was around 4.." Mikoto muttered softly.

"How did she..?"

"I don't remember." Mikoto said even more quietly now. "It's... it's got something to do with why me and Touma are here... but.. I don't remember."

"I lost my parents too." said Mikasa softly. "To titans.. and then Eren's parents adopted me.. but once that happened, they too.. were lost to titans."

Mikoto sat up, and bowed her head. "I'm.. I'm sorry...

There was a pause... then..

"Mikasa.. what happened? Why am I here?" Mikoto asked. "H-how did I get here to begin with?"

"You passed out after losing too much blood." said Mikasa. "In the end, Reiner and Annie saved Connie and Sasha. But.. then.. the most surprising thing happened."

"What? What happened?" Mikoto asked.

"Eren-" Mikasa began, but she was interrupted as the door to the room was slammed open.

"Hey hey." Hange Zoe walked in, smiling. "Sorry, but I'm going to have to take you out of your bed for a bit."

"Wh-wha?" Mikoto stammered. "Why?"
