Finally, Fortissimo reached her destination. This town was quiet, she expected there to be people. Maybe this was a fabled "ghost town" her teacher taught her about in late September. She walked through the oddly shaped gate into the town. Each step she took, she took it carefully. She thought to herself that maybe she was being overly cautious. She saw someone walking in the distance and she hastily walked up to them.
"Hello?" She said softly. The person kept walking as if they never even heard her. The cape they were wearing caught their eye, and she grabbed it. Immediately, they stopped walking and they fell back somewhat.
"Hey! What's the big idea?" They called out. They turned and looked at Fortissimo. Fortissimo examined them. They were a young boy, he was a bit on the chubby side, he had blonde hair and blue eyes, some sort of childish superhero garb, and was weilding a large lollipop in his right hand.
"Wow... I've never seen you before!" He exclaimed excitedly.
"Are you new here?" He pondered.
"No, well, um, I somehow found this place. I don't know where I am, I'm not even supposed to be here," Fortissimo responded.
She kept studying the strange child, he was like nothing she had ever seen. The boy looked at Fortissimo, and suddenly came to the realization that she was a mouse.
"Are you a wild mouse?" He asked.
"I'm a mouse, but I'm not wild. What are you? I've never seen an animal like you before," she said.
The little boy chuckled. Fortissimo raised an eyebrow in slight annoyance.
"I'm not an animal, silly. I'm a human," he said, still laughing as if it were the first joke he heard in years.
"What's a human?" Fortissimo pondered.
The boy froze, he wasn't able to come up with an answer the foreigner would understand. Fortissimo could tell he had gotten stuck.
"You know what? Don't worry about it." Fortissimo added.
The boy perked up, and his smile returned.
"Hey, I never ever got your name!" He exclaimed.
"I'm Ziggy," he said.
"Ziggy..." Fortissimo repeated.
"Well, I'm Fortissimo," she said.
Ziggy looked perplexed as if she had spoken words in a foreign language. Ziggy mouthed her name silently, trying to find a way to pronounce it.
"Hi, Fotrisso! Welcome to Lazy Town." He said.
"It's Fortissimo." She said, she could tell Ziggy was very young.
"Oh, I'm sorry.." He apologized to her.
"It's okay," she said, "Where even is Lazy Town?"
Ziggy looked at her and shrugged, but his face quickly lightened up like a brand new light bulb.
"I gotta introduce you to my friends!" He exclaimed excitedly.
"You mean this place isn't a ghost town?" Fortissimo said
Ziggy laughed.
"You're a funny person, er, mouse, Fortissimo." He said.
Fortissimo just stared at him, her expression was like: oh was I supposed to find that funny too?
"C'mon Fortissimo!" He called. Ziggy was already steps ahead of her. She had no other choice, so she followed him.
