Chapter 2: Truly Dark

Cold sweat ran down my face. I thought I was having a nightmare.

If I open my eyes, I'll find myself the last one in the airplane. Something suddenly touched my face. It was so cold and it was freezing me that I almost jumped back.

Instead, I just well, I just screamed my head off and then I woke up. Somewhere in total darkness it becomes which is my guess. Something soft hit my face. Then it licked me again, but this time on my hand. I figured it was a dog. I didn't know where in the world I was.

All I could remember was that last time I look up it wasn't that shivering cold. Plus when I went up to the restaurant I had a ruby, red velvet jacket with real diamonds and pearls no kidding.

And now here I am stuck here with nothing to do... except maybe. I checked my pocket. "Yes!" I said excitedly. My phone was there fully charged. But what was I doing in the underground tunnels of Paris? I figured that I was probably here for a reason. Like a trade for something.

It could be something way too valuable and an exchange for me. It seemed like I had to solve everything before things really get confusing. I tried to move my arms. Nothing happened but something is wrong.

Now, I had to find a way out of here. This man in a black suit, with a long black beard opened the gate to where I was. "Hello?" he said. "Anyone here with me on this dark lonely night?" he chuckled to laugh at his own joke.

I didn't laugh, instead looking around for an escape. There were rumors about Paris's underground tunnels and I know this is the exact position the rumors said. It was said that few had escaped and many had a lost.

I wanted to be those few but how? Suddenly I heard groans around the place. It as I recognize immediately were my friends. The man in the black suit with a long black beard threw up a switch.

The light burned my eyes as looked around to see. "No!" I screamed. My friends to were here, waiting to be all locked up with me. My friends like: Anna, Ace, Diana, Ella, Riley, Bella, Annie, Laura, Jenny, Eliza, Bailey, Barbara, Stella, and Sarah were all with me alone in a dark spooky and starry night.

I couldn't stand it! He gave us some food to eat after we were he poured out a liquid of some kind that was in a plastic test tube. "Drink" He told us and I did.

Stupid me. I should've never trusted someone who, voluntarily, gave me something to drink. Well as you know, the idiot I am, drank the liquidy substance that he gave me.

Then I suddenly felt shaky then sleepy then all went black. I woke up in a stunning shock not sure who I am. Not sure what ever happened actually happened. As it turns out, I wasn't the only one who woke up.

Everyone else started to wake up and blink their eyes and stand up. Blinding darkness started out and washed out on my eyes until I couldn't bear it any longer. I started to move like when I first arrived.

I was moving so slowly trying to find something to help me regain my strength. Darkness was going on me like a never ending nightmare. Then, I hit something covered in a brown paper.

It was something that was maybe a clue and I decide to put it in my pocket. Who knows, maybe it'll help up get out of this dark, spooky place. I shuddered. The underground tunnels sure gave me the creeps.

I leaned my back on the wall and rest my hand right beside me. Suddenly, I hit something and out pulled out a staircase. It was a long way down we probably should start early to walk all the way down.

I felt dizzy just watching how far it went down. One false move and we're all toast. I glanced back where everyone else was. They were probably, thinking the same thing I was, should we go and start walking or leave behind and stay here where it is all safe. There must be some traps way ahead of us.

We just can't stand here the whole entire time. I took a deep breath. I just had a feeling we should go start and maybe we'll find a way to get out of this place. After all, why should I stay in a cold place, when I could just go and explore?

I motioned them to follow me. As far as I was concerned there was probably lots of danger beyond us. We would risk it to get out of here. All that should I had been worrying about is figuring out where to go and be safe, but I was just scared to death. Suddenly, I saw a light behind me.

It was a vivid bright light, but a bit faint. I spun around. My eyes started to adjust from the light then it came in focus. Ace was holding two identical lanterns. She gave one to me and we continued our journey.

It felt like we'd never get to the end. Then we came to stop and rest. I was so exhausted. My feet were numb from walking for so long. I felt like the time my parents made me walk with them around a two mile zoo, that we basically ended up going back home, because we were all too tired.

Usually, I was the sensible and brave one, but right now I felt like I was going insane. I was sooo hoping to get out of the riddles and possibly, no I was- to get out alive.
