Chapter 3: The Tunnels and Maze Beyond

I looked down and squinted. I think what I may have saw was that our stuff was way, way, way, way, down at the bottom. I took out the brown paper out from my pocket and laid it carefully and gently on a step. I laid the lamp steadily and I put it down with concern, and delicately that it was so hard to try not to tip it over. We formed a big circled around it. There and then I started to recite it out loud for everyone to hear:

To get out of this place,

It's not a race,

There are many traps along the way,

There are stray dogs coming out to play,

Though it might be rainy to go outside,

Many went and never survived,

If you want to go away with a hit,

With your friends be sure not to split.

On the back of it was just a map to get out. "So, I guess maybe the point is not to split up" I said. The rhyme was kind of scary. For the third and sixth line, everyone but Ace thought it was kind of confusing. So she explained it.

As it turns out Ace knew this rhyme. It was written down by a girl named, Alice. She was once trapped too. So, she wrote down on a piece of paper how to escape. Now, after many years of searching for proof I had found it.

The point was that Alice had friends. The maze had a curse upon it that made people hate each other - which was exactly what had happened to Alice. They hated each other so much that they split up. Alice was the only one who escaped because she saw every one of her friends that died.

She tried to save them from their misery, but a piece of paper fluttered in the air and landed on Alice's hands from there she fled. The escape route which helped a lot was given to her so she wouldn't have the same problem and so she fled.

I thought about it. What Ace said made me think up a great scoop of a plan. Then I had a terrific idea. So, we teamed up to work out the plan. We started down the stairs hoping that at the bottom of it that the plan would work.

No mistaking it we reached the bottom in less than 30 minutes. You might think that is impossible but for truth we really ran down the stairs. The cold air gusted out towards me. I held my breath. Usually I would be terrified but now I was excited. We might finally get out of this place for good.

Suddenly, we saw a rare poisonous arachnid. It was red and all over and it looked like it didn't have a bite in a long while. I cupped my mouth to hide the scream but I couldn't it seemed impossible.

Then Ace led out a long, high terrifying pierced scream. I was amazed Ace was a fan of arachnids was she faking it all out now? I seemed not to see what she was afraid of until I figured that it wasn't a white arachnid, it was skeletons she was afraid of.

It took long enough to get half way around the maze of horrors to escape. Something strange sort of happened when I took a long deep breath. I started feel like the only thing I wanted to do is crack the bone out of everyone's skull.

This strange "business" started to too early than I expected. I quickly put the oxygen mask on my mouth. I searched around the map until I figured out where we were. I took out a high pitch scream.

We were by a cemetery in which I hate to admit but I was still frightened of my last encounter which included me being half buried alive. Still, looking at the graves gave me a chill. I didn't like the looks of it and it was pretty much as what you might as well called scary.

As we went through the mazes, we saw a lot of skeletons. We searched around until we saw a bright but dim light way ahead of us. Then as if I wasn't mistaken, a shadow as black as night and a 6-foot- tall person, was holding a flashlight in front of us. It was rather odd to find anyone here but really we did.

He wasn't alone. He had six people right beside him, talking loudly, probably trying to wake up the whole neighborhood. ".....yeah maybe this is a lot of valuable down here." said the one with brown hair and shorter than the first.

Before he could say any more I stomped right up to him snatched his big bag of valuables and pretty much gave myself away. Now I was trying to run, trotting down faster and faster each step until I hit the exit door.

It was a hard grayish-silver metal door but I didn't have time to examine it as my friends trotted and ran down faster after me as I opened the door I went down sliding past really, really fast and I crawled a few yards after.

A deep hole underground is where I've been. I didn't think fast enough. The six friends circled me and my friends as I hit hard on the hard concrete and I tasted blood. It wasn't until now that I figured what they were really after.

They wanted me 'cause I was a key to someone and I would be paid to leave my distinguished life. I refused. "No one is telling me what to do." I screamed on top of my lungs. I kick him on a pressure point and from there I fled.

I called the police right away. I got a reward of 1,000,000 dollars because the same week I disappeared they escaped out of jail. Mysterious they said.

They were really dangerous because they killed lots of people. Yup it is amazing. I had an interview with lots reporters.

My name was on the headlines, news and the newspaper even. A couple days after I got an A+ on an extra credit essay that I wrote and it was about this incredibly amazing story.
