Chapter 3- Airport Blues

When the Alana, Abigail, and Johnaton pulled up into the Airport parking lot the girls jumped out grabbing their backpacks and binders as they did. They waited impatiently for their Dad to open the truck and when he did they grabbed their suitcases before the truck was fully open.

“Girls what is with the rush?” Their father asked as they had started walking in a fast pace towards the Airport.

“We want to make sure we don’t miss the plane!” Abigail yelled since Alana and she were so far ahead of their father.

“For goodness sake you two are too much!” He yelled as he finally caught up to them.

“Daddy, Daddy he’s our Dad if he can’t handle us no one can!” Alana cheered as she walked making Abigail and Johnaton laugh.

Fifty minutes later Alana, Abigail, and Johnaton Martinez were sitting down waiting for the girls’ flight to be ready to board. Abigail was drinking water and shaking her foot nervously while Alana looked through her binder in which she wrote everything from her own songs to stories, she was certainty working on one write now titled: To be or To not be.

“One trip flight from Manhattan, New York to London, England will be boarding in three minutes.” A woman informed us over a loud speaker. Alana closed her binder and got up at the same time as Abigail and Johnaton. The two sisters looked at their Dad and gave him a big hug together

“I love you girls so much!” he mumbled on their hair but the girls still heard.

“We love you too Daddy.” Alana told him pulling out the hug and so did Abigail.

“I’m going to miss you guys so much. Call me once a while so I could your voices.” He told them.

“We will Dad and on Alana’s Birthday will make sure to video chat with you and mom.” Abigail reassured him.

“Your first birthday away from home Alana, I still can’t believe it. You have gotten so big but you’ll always be my first baby girl.” Johnaton told Alana giving her a hug trying not to cry while Alana stayed calm. She slowly pulled out the hug and gave her Dad a kiss on the cheek.

“One trip flight from Manhattan, New York to London, England will begin boarding.” The same woman announced over the loud speaker. Alana bent down and picked up her backpack, putting it on with her binder pressed to her chest.

“Dad we have to go!” Abigail yelled giving her Dad three kisses on the cheek and a quick hug. She grabbed her backpack from the floor along with her binder and pulled out Alana and hers’ passports as Alana gave their father one last hug. She grabbed Abigail’s hand and together they joined the medium sized line. When they reached the front Abigail handed the Airport woman their passports and watched her scan them than she handed the passports back along with two pins.

“Now girls put these pins on and Jasmine here will take you to your seats. She will be at your service the whole time you have a good time in England.” She told Alana and Abigail as a girl with blond hair and blue eyes came and stood next to her.

“I’m Jasmine. Come with me girls.” The Blondie told them leading them through the portal hole into the plane. Alana and Abigail turned around to see their father still standing were they left him a small smile on his face; they waved one last goodbye and followed Jasmine. She led them into the plane and to their seats which were all the way in the front of the plane.

“Here are your seats girls I’ll be in the back room if you need me. Before I go do you mind telling me your names and age?” Jasmine asked a friendly smile on her face.

“I’m Alana Martinez and I’m seventeen. This is my sister Abigail Martinez and she is sixteen.” Alana informed her as Abigail slide her backpack up on the cabinet of the plane. Alana handed her own backpack to Abigail and she did the same.

“Are you the daughters of Alicia Martinez the magazine editor for Beauty Teen Magazine, my thirteen year old sister goes on and on about that magazine all the time at home. I’m nineteen by the way so I’m still at home.” She informed them.

“Actually yes we are but we aren’t like celebrities or anything so no need for special treatment.” Abigail told her seating down in the second seat away from the window.

“As you wish but if you were Johnaton Martinez’s daughters than I will become excited because I love his work. You don’t hear about many men who are not only an artist but a poet and has published a book with both that right there is pure talent,” she said with a hint of excitement.

“Yes.” Alana stated and Jasmine face expressed she was confused than it changed to realization in a matter of seconds.

“Awesome but still as you wish no special treatment. I have to make sure everything is good with the captain and then I’ll be in the back if you need anything at all come get me.” She told them as Alana sat down in the seat by the window.

“Okay and Thank you,” Abigail said with a small smile and Jasmine walked away. We put our seat belts on and waited patiently until it was the time for the plane to get ready for takeoff. Alana opened her binder again and looked at the collage she had made of One Direction that was on the front page. The picture always brought a smile to her face as long as she had One Direction with her nothing would stop her from being happy. Abigail looked over her shoulder and saw the collage, a look of amazement displayed on her face.

“Alana this is amazing!” Abigail yelled a shock look on her face. She took the binder out of Alana’s hands and looked at the picture more closely.

“Umm…Thanks.” Alana muttered looking at her sister as Abigail examined the collage intensely. Alana slowly reached out to grab the binder from Abigail’s hands. When she had a grip on the binder, Alana slowly pulled it away from Abigail, when the binder was finally in Alana’s hands she slipped in into the still open Airplane cabinet above their heads.

“Attention all passengers please fasten your seat belts as we will be taking off in a short minutes. Thank You for Choosing Jet Blue Airlines,” A Man said in the airplane’s microphone. The sounds of clicking seatbelts echoed as soon as the man was done talking. A few minutes later everyone was seated with seatbelts on and the plane begun to move. Alana’s stomach turned she reached into her sweaters pocket and pulled out two pieces of gum. She handed one to Abigail who looked nerves, both girls unwrapped the gum and put it into their mouths calming their nerves down. Abigail laid her head on Alana’s shoulder and started humming “Moments” one of her favorite One Direction song’s. The plane gave a sudden lurch upward and they were in the air.

“We are now in the air, please remain in your seat until the seat belt sign is turned off. Thank you.” The same man announced, Alana leaned her head on her sister’s hair humming “Moments” with her.

“I’m going to miss Mom and Dad.” Abigail whispered in a calm voice.

“I am too Abby but we’ll be back home soon.” Alana whispered closing her eyes.
