PROLOGUE ❝ her arrival ❞
"SOMEONE NEW IS coming," Alice Cullen says to her family. "I . . . she's coming soon, to Forks. I can see her."
The girl's eyes seem to be distant, focusing on the vision that overtook her sight. Jasper grasps her hand, turning her to face him. "Who is it, Alice?"
"Marris . . . Hayden Marris and her parents," Edward says as he stares at Alice. "Her parents lived here a while back, but moved before she was born."
"Why are you seeing her?" Jasper questions.
"Charlie mentioned someone moving into a new house down at La Push," Bella says hesitantly, furrowing her eyebrows as she looks to Alice, then back to Edward.
"She's human," Alice continues. "I can see her here, in this house. And at the high school."
"Why would she be here?" Bella asks for all of them. By this time, Emmett, Rosalie, Carlisle, Esme, and Joseph had all entered the room, all of them focused on the girl with the pixie cut.
"She's with Emmett," Alice finishes, confusion written on her face.
