It had been a few days since Hussain had seen the new girl. He wasn't even sure if she actually moved here or if she was only visiting when he last saw her. If they had new neighbours, he would definitely come to know of it due to the hustle bustle created from the moving process. But within the last few days or even weeks, there had been no indications of that.
Hussain looked at the clock and saw that it was 3:30pm. Time for some lunch. Shehry and Hussain were working on some new stuff and over the past few days, work had begun piling up. Today especially was a long day for them having started early in the morning.
"Kya khaoge, Shehry?" Hussain asked.
"Anything man. At this point anything in my stomach is good," Shehry casually replied, moving to the sofa to stretch out his limbs.
"Should I just grab some pizza?" Hussain asked again.
"Sure, sounds good to me," Shehry said.
Hussain acknowledged and grabbed his wallet stepping out to grab food. He walked towards the elevator and pressed the button, waiting for it to arrive. As he scanned the hallways looking left and right, he did a double take towards his right when he saw the girl from the other night again. He noticed the elevator was almost here so pretended to act a little delayed as he saw her walking towards his direction.
Luckily for him the elevator had still not arrived by the time the girl had made it close to him. She leaned forward and pressed the button again for the elevator.
"You really like doing double takes for everything, I see," Hussain joked, hoping to start a conversation.
The girl look confused. "I'm sorry?" she asked.
Hussain suddenly felt embarassed at his failed attempt at a joke.
"The other night... 5 was already pressed for your floor and yet you pressed it again... Even right now the button was already pressed..." Hussain trailed off, suddenly feeling really silly at his comment.
The girl smiled and shook her head. "Nothing like that, I guess just out of habit to do things on my own," she replied.
The elevator dinged and finally arrived and the two entered.
"My name's Hussain," Hussain said with a smile.
"Saara," the girl replied, also with a smile.
"I've never seen you around, are you new here?" Hussain asked, hoping to get to know her better.
"Yeah, my dad and I just moved in last month," Saara replied. "We're in 5F," she added.
"Oh, nice! My brother and I live in 5C," Hussain replied rather excitingly.
"Nice..!" Saara replied smiling as the elevator arrived at ground floor and the doors opened. "Well, I guess I 'll see you around then," she said before leaving.
"Uh... yes, pakka! Bye, new neighbour!" Hussain replied with a thumbs up. Saara giggled and waved before turning the corner, out of Hussains site.
Hussain hit himself in the head again. Pakka? New neighbour? Really? Way to make an impression on a girl.
He sighed to himself shaking his head and proceeded towards getting that pizza he'd promised Shehry.
