My Greatest Mistake

So... I'm not dead? 

But I mean, I've literally been gone for two years so y'know, hurl your complaints my way I probably deserve them. 

Whoops.

Anyways, I'm back now! I just wanted to give you guys a few announcements about this story: some clarification, some heads-ups, some other words.

First, thank you all so much for your votes and your comments while I was gone. It means, honestly, so much to me that even though I disappear without warning and don't come back for an obscenely long time y'all will still leave comments telling me how much you love the story. You guys are a gift, truly, and I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for making me feel welcome and supported.

Second, updates! You'll probably be getting several updates over the next few days - those will be me editing existing chapters so they aren't so cringe-worthy and gross. I'll also be adding and/or changing a few details just to fit with the timing in this story that I've finally come up with. After that, I'm tentatively hoping to be updating somewhat regularly - I've got a few drafts saved for the next couple chapters, but the end of the school year is coming up and I thought it would be a grand idea to play four instruments in three different school bands. I've also got four finals this semester. Hopefully you get my meaning.

Third, some timeline/character clarification! (*cough* Finally! *cough*) So I've actually gone through and looked at a character list to see who I want involved in this story, and then I've gone and organized them all into relationships/families/grades/etc. I thought I'd share some of this with you now, so you have an idea of what I'll be changing in the existing chapters, and what you can expect:

1. Dean, Gabe, Balthazar, Anna, Dean's other friends (a surprise for now - hopefully a pleasant one!), and other students in his classes/extracurriculars (also surprises!) are seniors - grade 12 for those of you (like me whoops) who don't know fancy-American-grade-speak.

2. Cas is also a senior, but he skipped a grade. The way the birthdays worked out though he's still the same age as Dean. (I'm completely ignoring Jimmy Novak's canon birthday in favour of this idea. In this AU Cas was born in late September, so Chuck decided to wait a year before putting him into school.)

3. Sam is still four years younger than Dean, but he also skipped a grade (nerd) and is now a freshman in the same high school as Dean. (This is partly for simplicity's sake, but also to help build the relationship between Cas and Sam because I want them to be good buddies and try and curb Dean's junk food addiction together because 'we care about you Dean goddammit.')

4. Uriah and Zachariah will no longer be part of Cas's family because hot dang is that a lot of people to keep track of. So instead they'll be bffs with Crowley, who most definitely is still Cas's cousin.

5. There'll be a few changes to some personalities - for example Lucifer's is definitely more rebellious than I first wrote him to be, and Gabe and Balthazar will be a little less cringe-y dear God

6. As I am now older and hopefully wiser there'll be some differences in the style of my writing, but I'm gonna try and keep it somewhat similar to what it was. Also swearing. And maybe some light NSFW depending on how far I decide to go. We won't think about that yet....

As far as I'm aware that's the gist of it. So, yeah! Be prepared for updates and be prepared for no updates, and once more thank you all so much for sticking with me through all this, it really does mean a lot.
