Part 29

Its around 1230am when Jace finds Riley sitting a chair in the corner of the living room. He crouches down and puts his hand on her knee. "Are you alright Riley?"

"Large crowd. I have anxiety, and it doesn't mix well with tiredness." She comments, resting her head on her fist.

"Why dont you go sleep, I'll let your father know."

"Ive gotta make a good impression."

"Riley, you're tucked away in a corner... falling asleep."

"Its not my fault. Im always in bed by 9pm. Its routine."

Jace stands up and holds his hand out to her. "Lets go."

"Where?"

"You're going to sleep." Riley gets up, taking his hand. They locate Mary, talking to another family friend. "Im walking Riley to her room, she's gotten really tired and about to fall asleep."

Mary nods. "Alright, I'll let her father know when i see him."

"Thanks." Jace walks upstairs with Riley beside him. "Did you have fun?" He asks.

"Yeah." They stop infront of her door. "Just a little bit upset about Shey. But I'll get through it." Riley forces a smiles.

"If you need anyone to talk too, im right across the hall. All you have to do is knock." Jace moves hair from Rileys face.

"Thank you. Its been a little difficult getting used to everything, but you're making it easier." She opens her door. "Good night Jace."

" Good night Miss Ericson." He smiles at her. She goes into her room and shuts the door, flicking the light switch on and leaning against the door. Jace stands there for a few seconds, before he turns to his door while he loosens his tie. He opens his door but turns around again when Riley opens her door. "Are you ok Riley?"

"Do.. Do you think you could sleep in my room with me tonight?"

"Whats wrong?"

Rileys eyes well up. "I dont feel right and its sorta freaking me out."

"Sure. Why dont you change while I change and Ill be in in a moment.." Riley nods and closes the door, kicking her heals off.
