Redeem the Time

11/5/2017

To redeem the time, we must be :

1. Close to God
2. Connected to God
3. Wise

Redeeming the time means to make the most of the opportunity.

Close to God:

How to be close to God?

James 4:8 NKJV

Draw near to God and He will draw near to you.

Does God want to be close to us?

Yes, He does, even more than you think.

James 4:5 NKJV

Or do you think that the Scripture says in vain, “The Spirit who dwells in us yearns jealously”?

To be close to God, we need to have the fear of the Lord, be holy, and be humble.

Close to God:

1. Fear of the Lord

2. Holy

3. Humble

Fear of the Lord:

Psalm 89:7 NKJV

God is greatly to be feared in the assembly of the saints,
And to be held in reverence by all those around Him.

God is to be feared greatly, and held in reverence by all those around Him. We cannot be in the presence of God if we do not have reverence and the fear of the Lord in our hearts.

This fear of the Lord does not refer to us as being scared or afraid of Him, because we cannot be close to someone if we are afraid or scared of that person.

So, what is this fear of the Lord?

Proverbs 8:13 NKJV

The fear of the Lord is to hate evil;
Pride and arrogance and the evil way
And the perverse mouth I hate.

Holy:

Our God is a holy God.

Sin and unrighteousness separate us from God.

Isaiah 59:1-2 NKJV

Behold, the Lord's hand is not shortened,
That it cannot save;
Nor His ear heavy,
That it cannot hear,
But your iniquities have separated you from your God;
And your sins have hidden His face from you,
So that He will not hear.

1 Peter 1:13-16 NKJV

Therefore gird up the loins of your mind,  be sober,  and rest your hope fully upon the grace that is to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ; as obedient children, not conforming to the former lusts,  as in your ignorance;  but as He who called you is holy,  you also be holy in all your conduct,  because it is written, "Be holy, for I am holy. "

Humble:

Psalm 138:6 NKJV

Though the Lord is on high,
Yet He regards the lowly;
But the proud He knows from afar.

Connected to God :

John 15:5 NKJV

"I am the vine,  you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears, much fruit;  for without Me you can do nothing.

Some may argue to say that they can do a lot of things without Jesus.

No, you can do nothing without Jesus. You can do nothing of eternal worth or value without Him.  You can do nothing of eternal worth or value to the Kingdom or to God without Jesus.
