[Yusaku Fujiki, Opposite Envy]
A booked schedule; that's what you've always had. Upon entering high school, you never really had the chance to just sit down and relax for a good moment. That goes for weekends too, they were filled with nothing but work. You had to balance waking up early, making sure to eat all your meals, going to school, doing all your homework, working out to keep fit, having part-time jobs to make some extra money, and on top of all that, DUELING. All your friends and family members sometime worry that you're going to over-work yourself one day but you've been keeping this up for a year now, and you're in great shape. Everyone praises you for working hard and saying that you're going to lead a very successful life that everyone envies.
And they are pretty much right because someone does envy you.
He, on the other hand, never really found the motivation to do anything; not after his mind has been clouded with vengeance. He would always wound up watching your duels in VRAINS even if you weren't as popular as him. Popularity to him didn't really matter, what mattered was how you handled all of your situations. He knew who you were in VRAINS and in the real world, and what kind of troubles you were having in both. You never really walked in both worlds, running was always your choice of transportation. You had such a busy schedule but it's all benefitting you. And what has he been doing? Absolutely nothing except keeping a low profile in school and having a good reputation in the digital dueling world.
"Ahhhh done!!" You wailed as you stepped out of VRAINS and back into the real world, out of breath and went to go sit down on a bench in the nearby park. Pulling out your phone, apparently, you had 10 mins to spare before needing to run to your part time job. At least it was just at the mall down the street. You had to admit: you weren't very fond of your schedule but it kept you in good shape so might as well keep it up.
"Hey." You heard a male's voice above you and tilted your head up to meet the owner's face.
Yusaku Fujiki. You sit a couple of desks away from him in school. You gave him a confused and tired look and he looked down at his hand, gesturing it to you. In his hand was a handkerchief. You flushed a little bit, realizing how much sweat was covering your face and shyly took it.
"Oh uh, thanks Fujiki-kun." You thanked and lightly patted the cloth on your forehead and cheeks.
"Just call me Yusaku." He said and sat down right next to you, arms behind his head.
You nodded and a moment of silence passed before you broke it again. The silence was killing you and you had maybe 7 mins to spare before needing to run. "S-So um, did you manage to keep up with the lecture today? Sensei was explaining it so fast my hand cramped from writing so many notes, ahaha..." You attempted at a conversation.
"..." Yusaku said nothing and blinked, trying to think of what the lecture was on again. "Well I was asleep for most of the class so..." He admitted. You turned to look at him with wide eyes and then burst into a fit of giggles.
"Hahaha! I did see you napping when the class was over, were you really asleep the whole time?" You questioned. You knew that he had lost interest in dueling a while ago, but you were just so curious. His grades weren't the lowest, in fact, they were above average and you wondered how he could keep that up upon being so...carefree.
"Well the things sensei were teaching I already kinda knew from a few years ago so I didn't really need to listen." Yusaku answered.
"Oh I see...and you keep the old style duel disk right? The one that still needs cards? I'm glad I'm not the only one who does hehe." You smiled and took out your deck. You could never replace these special cards with digital ones because it seems like you're throwing away the strong bond.
"I do. I just think it makes dueling better."
"Yeah, I feel the same." Then you suddenly heard a beep from your phone; the alarm went off telling you that one minute was left. You mentally kicked yourself but stood up, causing Yusaku to look up at you. "Well it's been nice talking to you today Yusaku-kun, but I gotta head to my job now. Heh...sometimes I really do envy you. I have to admit, I'd much rather have a more relaxed schedule like yours." You confessed. "Oh would you like this back sometime? I could wash it and give it back to your tomorrow in class." You asked and held up the handkerchief.
Yusaku shook his head. "Keep it." He lightly responded. You nodded and put it in your pocket and started to make a run for the mall before Yusaku caught your arm. "You know what's funny?"
Yusaku caught you off guard but you shook your head, staying in place and held his hand back.
"I envy you too. And for the opposite reason."
"...Haha, I guess we're on the same page then...
...Playmaker."
"W-wait what?" Yusaku looked at you with immense shock. Because you ran around so much, you accidentally ran into him once when he changed into Playmaker and the resemblance in VRAINS and real life was too obvious not to notice.
"Hahahaha!! Don't worry, I'll keep your secret! Although I'd like to be, I'm not as carefree as you!" You shouted back at him over your shoulder as you let go of his hand and started dashing off to the mall.
Yusaku just stared at you as your figure disappeared into the mall. He stood there for a while before chuckling a bit. "...Heh, alright then."
