Rest in Peace

At night she wept and in daylight she lay numb.
Alone she fought her past and lived on restless nights.
Constantly being thrown and beaten by events and lost love.
Until a gentle man came to her side.
He lifted her up.
Baring his world and hers,
And placed them on his shoulders to carry.
He said he loved her.
He held her close and showed her exactly how much.
She nuzzled into his arms hoping he'd never let go.
As she fell asleep,
he held her tight
and told her that with him,
she could finally rest in peace.
