"Happy birthday dear Rose, Happy birthday to you!" everyone in the party sang the birthday song. Rose was so happy.
"Make a wish first!" Hermione told Rose. The little girl closed her eyes for a while and everyone kept quiet. Few seconds later and Rose opened her eyes again. Everyone clapped and Rose started to blow the candles.
After the party...
Ron stayed with the two girls. Rose was busy opening all her presents. She was so happy. Ron and Hermione couldn't take the smile away from their faces just seeing their child smile. They were sitting at both ends of the sofa.
"So, baby, what did you wish?"Hermione asked.
"Hmm—I wished that my mommy and daddy will never fight again and they will love each other. And I wished that daddy can stay with us." Rose was still busy tearing all the paper wrappers so she didn't have any idea how surprised her mom's face was. Ron was just sitting there, amused by the facial expression Hermione was making.
"Uhm—I need some air." Hermione got up and went to the terrace but she didn't know Ron followed her.
Hermione just sat on the corner and leaned her head on the wall by her side. She was thinking of Rose's wish. At first she thought that was a normal child's wish, but she realized that Rose really want to have a family. She just doesn't know how or maybe because she was confused about forgiving and accepting Ron in her life again.
Ron enjoyed watching Hermione. He just stood at the door without noticing a smile forming on his lips.
"Hey, are you okay?" Ron asked. Hermione opened her eyes and looked straight at him, then she nodded. Ron walked towards her and sat beside her.
"Ron, may I ask you something?" Hermione looked at him with a sad look on her face.
"Yes? What is it?" Ron looked on her eyes and saw pure sadness.
"This is my first asking this to you. Hmm—why did you leave me four years ago? Did you know that I'm pregnant with Rose that time?" she said calmly, almost whispering.
Ron took a deep breath and looked up to the sky. "I didn't know what's gotten in my mind why I left you. That was the stupidest mistake I've ever done in my whole existence. I knew you were pregnant because I saw the testers on the lavatory that morning I left. I was so confused and afraid of all the responsibilities I will face. I was a coward. But every day I wake up realizing without you by my side made me feel lonely and empty. Those four years without you were like living in hell. I decided to visit you but I was afraid that you'll reject me so I distanced myself. But rose, she was the wake up call. When I saw the both of you on the ice cream shop, I told myself I'll stay with the both of you, no matter what. No matter how many times you'll reject me, you'll scold me, you'll shout at me... It was my entire fault. I deserve them." Ron explained. Hermione was just looking at him. Her eyes were watery with tears. Ron saw her and wiped the tears on her cheeks.
"Are you going to forgive me now Hermione?" Ron asked while playing with his fingers.
"I—I don't know Ron. I'll think about it." She answered while leaving. Ron just let out a sad sigh.
