I had mad it back to the house and poured some water in a glass and was looking through my phone trying to figure out what to make for everyone for lunch. I sat down at the island that was near the back door of the patio that had a good view of everyone down on the field. A was turning back and forth on my chair and noticed something weird down in the field was going on. I set my phone and glass of water down on the island and walked over near the window out of sight to see what was going on down in the field.
I wanted to go down to the field and see what was going on but I know for a fact that Oliver would hate if I had risked anything to go see what was going on. I had caught a glimpse through the crowd at a familiar face. It was Safire, I grabbed my phone and ran to the cellar. I called my dad as soon as I had the door secured. When he answered I fumbled with my words.
"Please tell me you figured out how to kill a demon and please tell me that it is really easy to do."
"I did, all you need to do is find a venator beginner book. If its old it should be a dark rustic green. If its new it should be a glossy brown." He paused and it sounded as if he was looking through a book himself. "Have you found the book yet?"
"Um, Yes I found it."
"Okay go to page forty-five and follow what it says. Just know that you will not be able to change any of them back to how they were before. You will have them like the forever and they don't kill anything else."
"Okay thank you dad."
"Yup, anything to help you guys out. Good luck, call me if you need anything, anything at all. Good bye."
"Thank you dad, good bye."
We hung up the phone and I began to read and follow the directions written on the page of the book. They were really hard to follow seeing as the book that I had grabbed was really old and the letters on the page had been faded with age. The pages had also started to brown at the state they were in.
As I finished up I stood back and imagined how Oliver would praise how wonderful I had done with the work on the blade. I put the last enchanted marking on the blade. When I finished I quickly skimmed through everything one last time to be sure that it was done correctly. When it looked as good as what was in the book I picked up the blade and grabbed my phone. I ran up the stairs to the main level of the house. I wasn't in the cellar for that long, when I got to the window where I could see everything in the field people were fighting and Safire was the one that was winning and she was out numbered. I opened the back door and jumped over the railing of the back porch and did s superman landing on the grass. As I ran toward the crowd I searched and searched for Oliver or Max or Angel.
I began to worry as I couldn't find any of them in the mass of fighting men and women. There was a break in the crowd and I saw her. Safire and she seemed to look slightly different. She was fighting Oliver and he seemed to have the upper hand. Then he seemed to fumble as he glanced my way. The orra that seemed to surround him grew dark with worry. She grabbed him by the throat. Everything moved to slow motion like a movie was playing on a big screen only I was watching the movie as if I were in it. Out of dumb luck there was a bow that was on the ground twenty feet ahead of me. I grabbed it and I took the sward like an arrow to shoot it at her. As I saw his body begin to grow limp I began to scream "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO." I hadn't even realized as the word fell out of my mouth.
She had dropped him to the ground and came at me with a smirk. I shot the arrow and it plunged into the middle of her chest. As the world around me began to fall back to the regular pace that it had before. She looked down at her chest slowly and looked back up at me at the same pace. She then raised her arms slowly to her chest. She fell to her knees, from where the blade was protruding from her chest she started to smolder away like a piece of paper in a fire.
As she began to disappear faster and faster she began to wail and eerie and annoying unhuman sound. Everyone stopped and stared at her, while she was still vanishing I threw the bow to the side and ran as fast as I could to Oliver's side. When I got over to him I slid to my knees. He looked like he wasn't breathing and I could feel myself go into a panic attack. I started to the best of my ability CPR. I didn't really remember all that well how to do CPR since it has been a while since school and I learned it in class. After a few minutes of trying to see if I could get him to breath again Angel was the only one brave enough to walk up to me and tell me that it wasn't worth trying. I was trying so hard that I could break his ribs or at least bruise them.
"Honey you have to stop." Angel put her hand down on my shoulder and I shook her touch away.
"NO I CAN'T JUST GIVE UP ON HIM. HE HAS NEVER GIVEN UP ON ANY OF YOU!" It wasn't her fault that I couldn't bring him back but I was yelling at her anyway.
I looked back down at him and everyone seemed to back away from me. I wasn't crying at first but then I broke down sobbing silently. I picked him up and gently laid him down across my lap and stroked his hair to try and comfort my self. The world went slow around me as it had before and it felt like nothing would be able to bring things back to the way they were. For a moment I closed my eyes trying to figure out what I could have done so wrong. Suddenly I heard a muffled sound from below me. Everything began to speed up as Oliver came back to life in my arms. I lifted him and I looked into his eyes as he smiled at me and lifted his hands and held my face and whipped my tears.
"I'm okay. I'm okay." He sounded breathless and winded from being attacked.
"Max, someone help me get him to the house." Max came over and helped Oliver off the ground and helped him walk to the house. I was on the other side of him with his arm around me and with his hand in mine.
We got him to the house and up the stairs and into his bed. I stayed down stairs and found a rag and got it wet. I rung it out and made my way up the stairs to his room. When I got there he looked so peaceful. I walked up to the side of the bed and lay the rag down on his forehead softly and watched him sleep for a few seconds. I took off my shoes and I walked around to the other side of the bed and crawled up next to him and slowly drifted off to sleep.
