My teacher had us write an essay about one thing that she could change in the classroom to better our class so I wrote bout this. She has actually taken mine into consideration and now we don't have assigned seats in the classroom anymore. Our teacher told us to not use real sources, so nothing that is listed in the essay is real. I am so proud of myself that I'm posting this here. If your teacher ever gives an assignment like this, feel free to use my essay as an inspiration. Enjoy :)
Class Change
When you were a high school student, did you ever wish your teacher would actually listen to your opinion and make a change? Did you ever wish that you could write to your teacher and tell them how the class could be changed for the better? Miss Moore, I understand that you are taking opinions about how to change your class for the better. Clearly, you care about your students well being and happiness, since you spend so much time to assure them that their work is correct. Because you care so much about your students happiness, I am sure you will take their opinions with stride. You should allow your students to sit with whoever or wherever they would like because it will make you happier, safer, and smarter.
First, you should let us sit where we want in the classroom because it will make the teacher happier along with the students in the classroom. A 2016 survey by Student Weekly found that students who sit next to their friends are less anxious and less bored in class, therefore they are happier and their happiness leads to your happiness. Furthermore, in a study for Student Times, they stated that students are more likely to listen in class and less likely to fall asleep in classes when they sit next to their friends. Miss Moore, the evidence clearly states that you and the students will be happier if you let them sit wherever they please. Happy students will lead to happy teachers.
Secondly, you will be safer if you allow us to sit where we would like. A 2015 survey for weekly student magazine states that teachers are less likely to be stressed if the students are happier. Students will sit where they want and if they somehow interrupt your teaching, there will be less lesson planning in your future, thus allowing you to be less stressed. Also, a recent study for Students and Dogs magazine states that students are more likely to participate in class if they are sitting by who they wish to sit by. Miss Moore, you should allow us to sit where we'd like because it will clearly make you less stressed and the students participate more.
Thirdly, you should allow students to sit where they'd like because it will make both you and the students smarter. A recent study for Educational Times states that students are less likely to get into fights when they are around their friends. Students will be more calm and collected and not want to fight you over little things such as a grade. Moreover, Students Monthly did a survey in 2012 to make a statement that when students are next to friends, they are more likely to do work because they have someone to turn to for help without being embarrassed, Miss Moore, you should let your students sit with whoever they want because they will get more work done and in return, you will be smarter because you could have more time to lesson plan.
Admittedly, critics might argue that sitting next to friends would be nothing but a distraction. In a recent survey in Mr. Black's 6th period, 70% of students admitted that they are off task whenever they are around friends. This, however, is not true, because if the teacher were to set up consequences for being loud, distracting, or interrupting the teacher, the students would be less likely to do it. Not all students would be distracted. In addition, more positives weigh out the negatives in the case of sitting where we'd like. For example, Ms. Sexttons class took a recent survey with a result of 80% of students admitting that they would be more productive if they were to sit where they would like to and not be forced into a seating chart.
In summary, you should allow us to sit where we would like because it will make you happier, smarter, and safer. Thank you for taking the time out of your busy schedule to consider the opinions of the students you care so much about. The students in your class care so much about this issue that we will be stopping every day to help you make the best decision possible. Please inform us of your decision by Friday, April 13th. Do not let the students of WHS be forced into an uncomfortable situation like you may have been. Help them to succeed in English class and someday be an asset to our state, Ohio!
