Prologue
Experiments | 2022
"Elisabeth, come look at this." His wife came over to the table and looked at the screen where the results of the last experiment were listed.
"Are these the results of X34?" she asked. He nodded and in the corner of her eyes she saw a smile growing. "You're sure there are no abnormalities with this one?"
"None on the outside. That was the whole point, wasn't it?"
"Yes," she said, smiling herself now. "With which animal genes was his crossed?"
"We took the genes of the lion. Too bad the lion is dead now. Do you have the results of X342? I can't find them anywhere. It's about time we had the solution right about now. Was there anything special about it or is it just the incidental recombination of the genes again?"
"Good thing you have got me, darling. I should have its blood in the lab. And X342 hasn't developed enough for examination yet, she's still with me."

"This is... amazing. We'll have to run some more runs but I am almost certain we've got the answer this time." He was smiling from ear to ear that the many years of research and tests were finally paying off. Not to forget the people who hired them will give them enough money for their grandchildren to be rich.
"Come on, love. We've got to present our results. They must be waiting for us in the conference room." Her husband nodded and helped her walk to the elevator.
"You know, I think this will be changing the world. Everyone will be wanting these abilities. Animalistic instincts." Elisabeth nodded her agreement. She didn't have that much energy left. They have been working nonstop for the past few weeks, the men putting more pressure on them than before. But she knew her husband and herself have always lived for science. That's how they had met many years back as well. They never have been interested in prices or praises. It was the experience to find something new and exciting. That was the reason why the two of them have been asked to do this as well. Finding a way to improve the human body biologically, not technically. The sacrifices of lives during the progress didn't bother them, neither the people who had hired them. It was the big picture they were seeing.
The doors opened and they were on the highest floor of the building. Many men in suits were waiting for them. Most of them were security but the men that were sitting in the glass covered room weren't. There were people they never saw before and then there were people very known to them. Not just them, there were many politicians and this time, they saw the president himself sitting at the front.
"This is it, darling. Are you ready?"
She smiled reassuringly at her husband but felt uneasy. They entered the room and Elisabeth sat down and gestured her husband to proceed.
"I welcome all of you. Some of you I've already had the pleasure of meeting and explain what my wife and I were working on. I'm sure all of you have been filled in by now. Today, I'm very proud to present you the final results of our experiments. We finally got the answer for our questions."
"Does that mean we can now create those humans without effecting the outward appearances at all? Can existing humans go through the transformation? Do they have all the important abilities that we wanted? Is the brain in any way affected?," one suit asked. It made him smile even wider.
"Slow down, child. Hear me out and then I'll answer remaining questions."
