| Vylad x Katelyn || Silence |
*slight trigger warning
*heavily inspired by "A Silent Voice"

My name is Katelyn Firestine, and I don't deserve to live.

--༺ . ༻--

Katelyn was a troublemaker, a delinquent, but no one ever thought that she would go so far as to bully the campus heartthrob's deaf younger brother.

--༺ . ༻--

Katelyn's eyes lit up as a new student entered the room, his calming green eyes met her crystal ones. He stood in silence, as Garroth's eyes were basically glued to his younger brother, a worried look spread across his face.

"Vylad, please introduce yourself," Miss Hyria requested, motioning towards the brunette beside her. The male still stood still, as Katelyn squinted her eyes and cocked her head to the side. Then, the teacher proceeded to poke Vylad's side, as he let out a light gasp in response.

Vylad grasped a chalk piece from the board and continued to write on the board. The class's eyes trailed after every word he wrote, sitting in silence as all they could hear was the sound of the chalk making contact with the chalk ledge.

"Hi! My name is Vylad Ro'Meave, the deaf younger brother of Garroth Ro'Meave. I'm not mute, but I can't control my voice all too well. I can only use sign language, but I'm still very excited to meet all of you!"

Several gasps were heard from the number of students, as Katelyn quickly brought her head upwards as her gaze met Vylad's. He took the seat in front of her, a kind smile on his face. He grazed his right hand over his left, before raising his index fingers and moving them sideways; signaling, "nice to meet you!"

Vylad never knew that was just one big mistake... or was it, really?

"I can't understand you!" Katelyn scoffed, pushing the brunette away from her after he requested some assistance from her. Vylad moved his hands in such a manner that it left Katelyn even more flustered and frustrated, even though its true meaning was, "sorry!"

The bluenette sighed in annoyance, before storming off into the distance. Vylad felt guilt up his spine after making the female angry, along with the fact that he found her quite attractive. He ran up to her, and walked in front of her. He placed his fist on his chest and rotated it, signaling regret, though Katelyn was basically blind to it. "You creep me out!" She yelled, pushing the male out of her way as he fell backwards onto the ground.

And from that day on, Katelyn was known to be that one girl who made a new student move away in a month. She lost her friends, heck, even Aphmau left her for her ignorant ways.

She was alone.

Sweat dripped from Katelyn's forehead as she paced around, waiting in anxiousness out of Vylad's new school. Five years had gone by, and the memories still haunted Katelyn's mind; as a result, she took sign language classes to help in communicating with Vylad when she planned to apologize to him for all her misdeeds.

Katelyn gawked at the sight of the school gate opening, watching as all the students fled out as if they were fish being freed from a net. Her turquoise eyes wandered around, looking for the same meadow green eyes that were rimmed with tears years before.

And there they were-- Vylad and Katelyn were the only ones standing in the crowd, silent as their gazes met with each other. A faint blush appeared on Katelyn's face, surprised at the fact that Vylad grew taller than her, with the same dark brown hair that swiftly brushed across his forehead, as his face was surprisingly... err, cuter than she expected.

Katelyn took steps towards Vylad as she faced him. She placed her fist on her chest and rotated it, like Vylad once did in front of her. Then, she slid her hand across the other, slightly arched as she pointed to herself, signaling, "please forgive me." Vylad smiled, nodding, as he lightly brushed his fingertips on his palm two times, before he hugged Katelyn.

Her eyes widened as the one who she used to bully was now hugging her, making the blood rush to her cheeks. After a meaningful hug from Vylad, he questioned how Katelyn knew sign language. Katelyn motioned her hands around, "it's a long story."

From then on, the two grew close. Though, Vylad didn't tell Katelyn his suicidal thoughts, since she wasn't the only one who bullied him for his 'disability.'

It was New Year's Eve, with Katelyn and Vylad signaling to each other, a smile on Katelyn's face, though there was still a hint of sadness in Vylad's facial expressions.

Vylad and Katelyn rested their arms on the railing of a balcony, two floors high above a river they used to swim in. The brunette noticed Katelyn's eyes were getting droopy, watching as her eyelids fell shut. He slid to the side a bit, lightly kissing her forehead; goodbye.

The male started to climb over the railing, slightly making a sound, waking Katelyn up right before Vylad fell off the ledge. "Vylad!!" she shrieked, tightly grasping Vylad's hand as he dangled from the balcony. Katelyn was holding onto him as tight as she could, her other hand holding onto the railing. She panicked even more when he started to slip from her grip; it wasn't helping that Vylad was taller than her.

Katelyn's left hand then clutched onto Vylad, making both of her hands pulling him up. Sweat dripped from Katelyn's skin, as she used all of her might to pull Vylad up the balcony, with her legs feeling light as if she were floating, as she slipped over the railing.

She felt herself falling,

And then everything went black.

Vylad's head hung low as he waited in a chair, situated next to Katelyn's hospital bed. His face was tear-streaked, sobbing in guilt and sadness, before Katelyn let out a rough cough. Her eyes fluttered open, to see Vylad with happiness on his face, with tears in his eyes.

She finally woke up from her coma.

Katelyn let out a light smile, as Vylad scooted closer to her bed. One of his hands held hers, and the other was in the air; the pinky and index up, the thumb to the side, with the two resting.

I love you.

I have a lot of author's notes for this one.

One, this is Vinyl.

Two, I'm ashamed this is longer than the chapters I post on my books, which is just--

Three, I did switch the roles, but no one could see precious ol' Vylad being a total bully, so... improvise!

Four, the characters belong to the amazing Empress_Aphmau! "A Silent Voice" the movie belongs to Kyoto Animation, with the original manga illustrated by Yoshitoki Ōima.

Five, I made this extra descriptive and written in third person for the emotional points. It was for the feels.

Anyways, I hope you enjoy this and the rest of this book!
