The soft gust of wind blew across the country. The leaves scattered in the nation. The people slowly falling and waking asleep. She had a campfire outside the village, midnight sky.
Aphmau was laid down, by the campfire. She felt drained of life. After everything changed with her life.
Her lover, gone. Dead gone. She felt exhausted and worn out.
Aphmau's eyes drooped and her body was faint. Flares of the fire touched the corner of her arm, making her whimper in agony. Oblivious, she stared at the fire in front of her.
"Why . . . ?" She weeped, a few drops of water running down her cheeks. "Why take him away, Irene? I love him, and I was happy with him. Why'd you take that away from me? Aren't I your daughter . . . ?"
She knew Irene never had any children, but everyone on earth was her child. Even her. Aphmau a goddess.
Her eyes fluttered shut as she grieved. A alarm clock was ticking as if she had only very few time to think about him.
She went into a fetal position and laid on her left side. Aphmau began to cry harder, and softer, and more agonizing. Almost if she was dying. Everything went to a tangerine orange and lazuli blue. Then, she felt nothing.
. . . .
She rested and felt safe being wrapped with calm, warm arms.
Her eyes sore and closed, about to fall asleep. "Help me stay awake, I'm falling asleep . . . And I don't want to fall asleep while you're here," the girl's soft and weary voice rang in his mind, knowing what will happen when the alarm clock beeps.
Her just more comfortable hugged in his arms, she whispered,"You're going to leave when the alarm clock beeps."
The male's guttural voice answered,"It will beep any moment, my dear,"
Tears were stained in Aaron's arms as Aphmau cried slowly, more tears dripping onto the male's upper arm. "And all we have will be locked into memory, like everything we've had before,"
Aaron looked away from the silky black blob laying on him. He realized that Aphmau's hair was knotted and tangled. His slow gasp made her twitch. "So I'll stay awake, and watch the fire burning. I'll keep the hungry wolves from the door."
The female looked around to see the wolves trotting around the valley. The small animals they were consuming. Aaron pulled her tighter. "Help me find my way back to my personality. I've wandered alone through the trees. The lights are dimming in the windows of the houses, and my heart is starting to freeze." Her gentle voice, almost sang a lullaby in his ears.
"See, we have a light but we won't use it, we're afraid we'll lose it, if we down use it. Then we'll die here in the dark." His voice fought a cry, and his voice turned groggy.
She rocked out of Aaron's grip and kneeled down in front of him. Her arms hugged his shoulders, and he hugged back. Aphmau softly kissed Aaron's cheek. "They will find us hopeless and helpless. They'll see how we are clutching our frozen hearts." She stood up, making him move back. "But you and I . . . Well we will be buried side by side, and time won't mean a thing."
