- friendship -

She wasn't expecting to go to the dock, but she did. Because there was a plant there.

Katie was walking by when she noticed a small ivy plant in a small pile of dirt, she stopped to pick it up but quickly forgot that she had other things to do. She just sat there for a while and stared at the water.

"Hey." A voice said, bringing her back to reality. She looked up to see Travis, smiling down at her. "What do you want?" She sighed. He pouted, "You're always so mean to me. You don't even give me one second of your precious time."

"My time isn't precious." She scoffed.

"Well you act like it is..." He leaned in, "And it's precious to me." He said with a wink.

She felt herself blushing. God's it was so easy to make her blush. And why was she blushing. He wasn't flirting with her, he was... joking around. Yeah. He was just being an annoying dweeb. She cleared her throat, "Well I apologize, from now on I'll do my best not to be so mean or whatever."

He sighed as he sat down next to her, his legs hanging off the dock. "I have a feeling that's the best I'll get."

She nodded.

Looking over at Katie, he took in the sight of her, her dark hair pulled into two braids, her brown eyes following the water, staring down at it. He cleared his throat. "I actually found this the other day, I thought you might want it back." He handed her the sketch book he had found the other day.

She smiled, "Gods, I've been looking for it everywhere, thanks." Katie looked up at him, "Did you look at it?"

"Nah."

She raised an eyebrow, "Yeah right."

"You have no faith in me." He faked a look of hurt and she let out a laugh, "It's not that, just..."

"You don't trust me?" He guessed.

"No... you're Travis Stoll."

"Fair point."

Katie flipped through the book then looked back at him, "Wait, I don't actually want it."

"What?"

"You probably did something to it."

"I didn't do anything to it."

She looked at him skeptically, "Whatever, I'm not risking it. You can keep it, I have others."

"You really don't trust me, do you?"

That was somewhat true, she didn't really trust him. But some where she knew that it wasn't actually because she didn't trust him, she sort of liked the idea that had something of hers. But as usual, she ignored that and told herself that he had done something to it."To be fair, I've been the target of your dumb pranks for the majority of our friendship."

travis pov i guess

Travis resisted the urge to smile, "My pranks are not dumb." He shot back, taking the book out of her hands. He began to flip through it, but he wasn't really registering what was on the pages. He was just repeating what she had said, our friendship. He smiled to himself. They were friends. Friends. He could almost hear Conor chastising him, once you're in the friend zone, you're never getting out. But honestly, if nothing happened between him and Katie he would be okay with it, they were friends and that was enough.

"Why are you smiling like that?" Katie questioned, pulling him out of his daze.

"Um... Your drawings are really good."

She raised an eyebrow, "That's a blank page."

He looked down and felt his face heat up, "That's the good part." He said with a wink, gods he needed to go before he made a fool of himself, "Um well, yeah. Good talk." He stood hurriedly.

"Why are you leaving? Did I do something wrong?" She asked.

"What? No." Then instead of doing the sensible thing or the truthful thing, Travis Stoll took the easy way out. "The book is gonna explode."

"I knew I couldn't trust you." Katie said with a laugh, gods she was beautiful when she laughed. And when she talked and when she walked and... she was just beautiful in general. And with that he made his way to his cabin.

"She gave it to you?"

"Yeah, the drawings are actually really good. Look at this." He pointed to a drawing of a daisy.

Connor didn't look very impressed, "That doesn't make any sense, why would she give it to you?"

Travis resisted the urge to say 'because we're friends.' and instead went with, "She thought I rigged it or something."

"So she gave it to you because she doesn't trust you?"

"Pretty much." Travis admitted.

"That's pathetic."

"Almost as pathetic as your attempts to get Sybil." Travis shot back.

"Shut up." His brother muttered.
