The shadow looks around. I pick up Sabrina and move towards the door. As quietly and quickly as I can, I open the door and step out. I tiptoe down the hall, looking for Maya's room.

I check each room. Kitchen. Another guest room. Bathroom. Finally I come to another bedroom. I hear Maya softly snoring. I walk to her bed and gently place Sabrina next to her. I shake Maya. "Maya? Maya." After a few moments she opens her eyes and blinks sleepily. "Qué pasa?" She yawns. "Un persona es aquí. En el dormitorio." I respond. I hope whoever got in is still in that room.

"Qué?!" Maya gets up and kneels next to her bed. She digs out a wooden bat. Then she goes to the closet and hands me a rod. I pick up Sabrina again and follow Maya to our room. I can now see the person standing in the corner. "Oy! Por qué estás aquí?!" The person jumps at Maya and they begin to fight and yell. "Huh? What's happening?" I feel Sabrina moving as she slowly wakes. "Amise?" she whispers.

"Shh..." I pat her back as I watch Maya fight off the stranger. I want to go help, but I'd have to leave Sabrina. She would get scared, and I need her to stay calm. I hear glass shatter and quickly turn to the window. Another person climbs through and looks at the scene. I gently place Sabrina down. This person sees me and jumps at me. I yelp and hold my rod as a shield.

"Maya...Amise..." Sabrina whimpers. As I fight the person, I can see their eyes. The eyes are almost auburn. Like the hair color. But not that exact color. It's too red to be auburn...

I back up as the stranger throws a punch at me. I'm too slow to dodge it and it catches me on the cheek. I yell in pain and fall to the floor. The pain of my cheek and the pain in my head combine. It's terrible. "Maya!" Sabrina yells. Maya looks over to Sabrina, then me, but keeps fighting. The auburn-eyed attacker jumps on me and seizes my wrist. I struggle to get away, but they hold on.

"She doesn't have one!" a deep voice comes from the person over me. "Then get the other girl!" The man attacking Maya orders. Immediately, the man releases me and turns. Before I can get up, I hear screams. "Amise! Maya! Help me!" I jump up and run to my sister. I am shoved away as soon as I get there.

The attackers start to climb out the window. One of them throws Sabrina over their shoulder. "Let go of me!" She shrieks. I try to punch the one holding Sabrina, but he doesn't react. I grab her hand and she holds on tight. "Amise, help me!" She cries. I pull, but the man notices and holds on even tighter.

Our hands are slipping. My head is pounding like it has never done before. With one final tug, Sabrina is ripped away from me. I fall to the ground, dazed and aching. "Maya!" I say. Maya is kneeling in the middle of the room, head down. I briskly walk over to her. "Maya, necesitamos a ayudar Sabrina!" Maya keeps quiet. "Por favor? Maya, vamos." I plead. We have to help my sister. We have to.

Maya looks up at me. "Lo siento. Quiero ayudar..." she whispers. I grab her hand. If she wants to help, then come on! "Vamos!" I say. "Estamos débil! No podemos ayudar Sabrina." I let go in disbelief.

What does she mean? We are weak? We can't help Sabrina? We have to at least try! "Maya, estamos débil. Pero, Sabrina tiene siete años. Ella esta débil! Necesita ayuda!" I yell.

That's the truth. Sabrina is a tiny seven year old. We may be weak, but she is weaker! I run to the window and dangle my legs out. "Si usted no ayuda Sabrina, ayudando yo Sabrina."

With that, I hop out of the window. If she won't help my little sister, then I'll do it alone.
