I crunch the dirt beneath my sole,

Glare at the path that's paved in coal.

Walls of iron are clad around me

And yet I see it oh so clearly.

The path I'm on will split for two

And now I know that I must choose-

To do or to die

I can't decide.

What am I supposed to do?

I see the sky with clouds above

And all I want are wings of love.

Love for my mercy

Far from this deep sea

That I am drowning in.

Love for the height

My passions ignite

That currently seems like a sin.

I dream of my bonds being shed to the floor

Yet ever I wake there seems to be more.

More to do,

Less to choose,

Less to say,

And more to obey.

It's the path of life-

More specifically a child's

As she grows like fire

Going into the wild.
