at last, school ended. euphoria flowed through my body and rejuvenated me as i walked to the school gate with her.

she not-so-consciously lets down her shoulder-length hair. she ran her fingers through the roots of her hair and smiled.

i walked stubbily next to her as her long, thin legs moved swiftly with every step she took. she earned "wow"s from the younger schoolboys.

one of them walked up to her and nervously called her cute, then ran away.

she giggled, proving his point before glancing to me. she repeated again and again, "did you hear that? i'm cute."

she pulled out a compact mirror from her drawstring bag, staring at her reflection.

i looked down to my feet as i laughed to hide my sadness. "yeah, definitely cuter than me."
