She had left two and a half hours ago; Homra's vanguard began to worry. Where could she be? All she said she was doing was taking a walk in the rain. God how she loved the rain. The rain, the clouds, the smell, the peacefulness.
Thinking about her began to worry him even more. He already lost two of his friends, losing her would kill him. He walked downstairs to the bar of Homra. Kusanagi was leaning against the counter, smoking a cigarette, and Anna was talking to Shiro, the 1st King, and his cat friend.
Yata looked at the door and noticed that her skateboard was still resting right by the door. He then looked at Kusanagi, who looked up from his cigarette and smirked.
"This is the longest your lady friend has been gone, right," he questioned. The red head just nodded his head.
"I'll be back." He said.
"Don't get lost," the bar tender shouted as he burst through the door with with his board in his hand.
He felt as if he had searched everywhere for this girl. All her usual spots were checked about four times, he even asked the man at her favorite cafe if she had been in today. All the man behind the counter did was frown and shake his head as if he were disappointed in the beanie-wearing red head.
She's my best friend, I can't lose her too. She's all I've got right now.
Yata decided that he should head back to the base; maybe she had returned and was waiting for him.
He walked into the bar with his board tucked under his arm, hoping that he would see a sleeping girl on the couch, waiting for his return. Sadly, however, she wasn't there. So he sat and waited.
After what felt like hours, which was really four minutes, (Y/n) walked through the door soaking wet with a bright smile on her face. She ignored the vanguard as she walked over to the bathroom to wring out her hair. Once she returned, she placed her shoes by the door and walked over to her best friend.
"(Y/n), I know I'm not your dad, and I know that I need to try to be less over-bearing of you because you're your own person, but I just really gotta know, where the hell did you go," Yata asked, finally relaxing because she was finally home. She sat down and put her legs over his, ready to tell him about her fun three hours.
She explained that as the rain began to pour down harder, some rain dancers came outside and started dancing. At first, she didn't quite understand what they were doing, so she watched in amazement as their feet moved so effortlessly. After a couple of minutes of watching in admiration, they started to ask people if they wanted to join. Of course, out of curiosity, (Y/n) just had to join. So they slowly began to teach everyone their dance, and for a couple hours everyone just enjoyed the rain and danced. For what felt like the first time ever, she felt like there was nothing to worry about. All she had to do was dance and everything would be alright. Nobody would get hurt, none of the greens would chase after anybody, she wouldn't have to fight stupid thugs, all she had to do was dance.
"You know, I wished it rained more often," she said, finally looking Yata. Little did she know, he sat their admiring her the whole time, watching the ethusiastic girl explain about how much fun she had.
Seeing her so calm and happy was a huge relief for him. There was never a moment when she wasn't ready to fight and protect. She was always so stressed out for others, that she never took the time to evaluate how she was really feeling.
"Are you cold?" Yata asked, noticing that she had goosebumps up and down her arms. She smiled and nodded her head lightly. Yata moved her legs and ran upstairs to get her some warm clothes. He ran back down with an oversized hoodie and sweatpants, and she went into the bathroom to change.
Once she came out, she put her wet (h/c) hair in a bun (too short? lol not anymore) and sat next to her best friend. She rested her head on his shoulder as they sat there in a comfortable silence.
After a couple minutes, (Y/n) was sleeping on her best friends shoulder. Yata picked her up slowly, making sure not to wake the sleeping girl, and carried her to his room. He laid her body on his bed and laid on her other side. She turned her body to be facing him, and buried her face into his neck. He silently stroked her hair until he too fell into a deep and peaceful sleep.
