W e stand, wanting to
E rase the past's mistakes, scrubbing ourselves raw, but
N ever getting rid of the grime, for
T ime has buried it in our skin, and now
Y our skin is no longer your own.
O ur skin is
N o longer our own, because we are one in the same.
E ach of us relating, each of us our own stories, but each of those stories are the same.
P assersby may frown upon it, may not understand, may try to change our stories, our skin but
It's not theirs to change, not theirs to understand.
L et them judge, let them frown, let them be confused, but don't let them touch
O ur story.
T he time we have together is short,
S o don't let them touch our story, don't let them change our skin.
