The next morning , we set off once again toward the buildings in the distance. Hopefully we could make it there before sundown. As we walked alongside the forest, I heard a strange sound.
"Do you hear that noise?" I asked Micheal quietly.
"Yeah. What do you think that was?"
"I don't know, but I certainly don't want to find out."
"Let's just proceed with caution until we are far enough away."
"OK," I said as I began to walk more cautiously.
It seemed like the sound was following us because we waked for miles and we could still hear it at the same volume. By this time I had my bow loaded and Michel had his knives in hand. We continued walking.
It seemed like we had been walking forever. At least we both could make conversation.
"So do you think anyone notice we left?" he asked
"Not likely."
"Your probably right. I mean, if we return nobody will even believe we left."
"When we return, not if we return."
"I hope you're right."
"So do I."
"Its getting dark so we should probably set up camp."
"I agree."
As we started setting up camp, the thing I had been expecting to happen for hours happened. The thing in the woods that had making a racket earlier finally showed itself. A giant ten foot tall bear leaped out of the woods and started to attack. Something tells me it wanted us for dinner. I quickly got out my bow and shot a few arrows at it. Micheal then came up to it while it was down and stabbed it in the heart.
"I think I solved the dinner problem for tonight," he said, almost cracking up.
"I guess so. Now lets get the fire built before we can't see what we're doing anymore."
Once the fire was built, we both sat around the campfire. "Did you tell your girlfriend that we were leaving or did you just leave her there to worry about what might have happened to you?" I asked, half joking.
"I might have forgot to tell you something..."
"What?"
"Well. A few days before we left she broke up with me."
"I'm so sorry. Let's face it though, you could do so much better."
"I guess I could."
"I know you can" I said, with a grin.
"Considering you don't have a boyfriend, I guess I have to ask a different question."
"Gee, way to make me feel better." I said, faking being upset.
"That's not at all what i meant! It's just I couldn't ask you that because there would be no point..." he freaked out.
"Micheal, it's fine. I knew what you meant I was just kidding around." I explained, holding in my laughter.
"Don't do that to me Nicole!"
"Whatever. And besides, there is only like two certain boys I like. I just never feel ready for another relationship after my first."
After the conversation ended, we put the fire out and got in the tent. We needed to get rest for tomorrow. I tried really hard to get to sleep at first, but gave up after a while. I was up for the longest time thinking about today's events. All the walking, the bear attack, and then there was the campfire. I fell asleep that night, bow in hand, thinking about what tomorrow might bring.

The next morning, we both had waken up early. We really didn't have to but it is extremely hard to fall back asleep when you hear rain on your tent. My stomach growled. I didn't know what we were going to do for food because the fire would be out. I turned around and saw Micheal had fallen back asleep. He's so lucky to be able to do that.
As I started to open the tent Micheal shifted in his sleep. I hoped that he wouldn't wake up because I wanted some time to myself. As I emerged from the tent, I realized it was only lightly raining now. Ten minutes ago it was like a downpour.
I decided to go into the woods to find something to eat. We should be able to make it to the mysterious buildings by sundown. I walked along the edge of the forest collecting berries. I made sure to pick only the ones that wouldn't kill us. If I was unsure of them, I left them.
I walked back to the campsite, berries in hand, to Micheal who was sitting there freaking out.
"Where were you?!?!" he demanded.
"Chill yourself. I was just in the woods gathering berries to eat." I said calmly
"Did you ever think to tell me you were leaving? Something could have happened to you."
"I'm fine, aren't I? Besides, if I told you I was leaving, you would have come too. I just wanted some alone time."
He nodded. "I understand. Just dont do that again or you're going to get it."
"Ok ok. Let's get going. It will probably take us the whole day to get there."
We were off to the unknown city that lay before us. All Micheal and I could hope for was that the explostion was just an accident and not a major problem. We didn't know much about the land we were on, or if we were even aloud to be there. All we knew was what we'd been told. And as the elders said: "Never cross the boarder or you will surely die."
